That's gotta be suuuper fast, like at least 15 images per second.

[-] not_IO 71 points 1 month ago

exposing humans to such a rapid succession of visual stimuly would drive anyone insane

[-] TriflingToad@sh.itjust.works 12 points 1 month ago

I watch formula 1 at 30 frames a second for hours a week and I can now talk to myself about drivers teams and tires for hours on end

[-] evidences@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago

For smooth video playback you want 23.976 images per second. You could do 30 if you really want but the human eye doesn't get any benefit from more than 30.

Ew. I hope they don't add sound to it, that would just ruin the whole thing.

[-] Zachariah@lemmy.world 33 points 1 month ago

Especially if there’s speech. “Talkies”?… blech.

[-] subiprime 16 points 1 month ago

that would never take off, dont worry. SMELL, on the other hand...

[-] Zachariah@lemmy.world 12 points 1 month ago

Oooh, it could be called “Odorama”!

[-] too_high_for_this@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago

I wish Smell-O-Vision had taken off. Smelling gunpowder during shootouts, food that's being cooked on-screen, cum and pussy and ass during love scenes, diesel fumes in a subway.

It would probably still be way too expensive and complicated to be feasible but I won't stop dreaming

Jeez, the reminds me of the stickers on the Sam and Max box, proclaiming it to be the "full talkie" edition. Amazing.

[-] Zwiebel@feddit.org 50 points 1 month ago

Source???? How will they do that??

[-] SkaveRat@discuss.tchncs.de 14 points 1 month ago

Bah, what was wrong with staring at a static image and imagining? All this fancy technology, it's probably woke

Images aren't meant to move! My pastor warned me about this!

[-] don@lemmy.ca 22 points 1 month ago

tf?! We gonna need supercomputers to play games now ffs such bullshit

[-] EvilEdgelord@sh.itjust.works 15 points 1 month ago

We should measure the frequency of said frames!

[-] Jerkface@lemmy.world 24 points 1 month ago

Just thinking about it Hz my brain.

[-] AnUnusualRelic@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago

Why would anyone want that?

[-] InfiniteHench@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

Groundbreaking tech from an indie game. Cyberpunk and DLSS eat her heart out!

[-] FuyuhikoDate@feddit.org 2 points 1 month ago
