Given their current lack of content worth watching, won't be renewing. Haven't streamed Apple+ for months now ..

0 + 0*0.3 remains quite affordable as for me.

[-] hddsx@lemmy.ca 9 points 13 hours ago

You are very irritating. Why can’t you factor your god damn equation into 1.3x instead of x+x*0.3? Have you never taken a math class?

[-] SaltySalamander@fedia.io 2 points 32 minutes ago

And you are an insufferable twat.

I know my audience.

I don't think enough people are putting their principles ahead of the desire for entertainment. There should be a greater public backlash as these media outlets continue to increase their prices.

It's taken me no more than two price increases by any outlet to cancel my subscription. I now only subscribe to Nebula, I watch Pluto and Tubi, I acquire my media in other ways that give me ownership of it, and I go to the theater more often. But mostly I try to do other things like read, create, exercise, socialize, learn new things.

To be fair, I'm a single person with no kids. However, I grew up in a time before mass cable tv adoption. I just hope parents are aware of the potential addiction they're harming their children with as they stick a screen in front of their face rather than a coloring book or lego set.

We're allowing corporations to control us and giving in to their demands to satisfy our addictions. To a lesser degree, we're drug addicts and they're the dealers.

The more streaming services raise their prices, the more people asking to join my self hosted alternatives.

Which is win-win, because then they chip in for more hard drives.

[-] dan1101@lemmy.world 3 points 12 hours ago

Damn it was surprisingly affordable. Netflix up to $17 now.

[-] Clent@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 10 hours ago

Sure but keep in mind it originally launched at $4.99 around 5 years ago and has far less content than Netflix.

Good.

Charge the useful idiots as much as they're willing to pay.
