it’s 2025 and people still pretend to hate furries lol

[-] Walk_blesseD@piefed.blahaj.zone 40 points 2 weeks ago

Bro thinks this is 2014 frfr

furry hate in 2005 was 100% homophobia lol it's never really gone away either. it's largely that nowadays too. it's a way to hate queer people without outwardly hating queer people. they think we don't see it. it's also just dumb as hell and a waste of your one life to spend any amount of time literally hating people for a hobby that involves playing pretend and using their imagination. oh no, the horror, they can access something you can't anymore.

dude lol it's fine. it's a hobby. you know it, i know it, everyone knows it. zoomers are fine with furries, alpha even more so. you're not going to win this just stop. it's so dumb.

[-] papalonian@lemmy.world 18 points 2 weeks ago

Who's trying to win anything? Weird that you think that a bunch of 13 year olds being ok with something means OP is lying about not being ok with it..

For the record, I don't "hate" furries, I won't stop talking to someone because they're a furry, but if you make it impossible for me to look past it, we're probably not gonna get along.

[-] misterdoctor@lemmy.world 25 points 2 weeks ago

For the record, you sound exactly like the type of person a furry wouldn’t ever want to befriend so worry not, bud

weird that you're focusing on minors when i mentioned two generations

most furries are normal about their hobby is the overall point here, and one that i have seen spread like wildfire online the last 5 or so years. i have seen furry posts on TikTok receive a ton of attention and all the comments are some variation of "why did people hate furries?" or "furries seem cool." it might be cringey but being cringe is not embarrassing anymore. catch up. it's freeing.

[-] papalonian@lemmy.world 9 points 2 weeks ago

I was gonna write a response to this but it was pretty much just a rephrase of my other response. tl;dr I don't hate furries as mentioned and idc if you're amongst the "normal about their hobby" crowd but in more than one instance I've encountered people very not normal about their hobby and I choose not to associate with them. 🤷🏾‍♂️

Hmmmm... In that scene he was lying. He very much did care. So the meme is really saying that you do care about what people with anime profile pics say, but you just don't want to admit it... 😆

[-] i_love_FFT@jlai.lu 15 points 2 weeks ago

Also I'd rather care about the opinion of anime addicts and furries that about the opinion of intolerant assholes.

Some of the best advice on cryptography comes from a site full of furry illustrations. A good chunk of infosec community intersects with a furry community.

But hey, you do you.

Furry anime avatars get a block.

And I thought Lemmy was an open and accepting space

[-] RepleteLocum 20 points 2 weeks ago

This genuinely sounds like an interaction between two „gigachad super based“ 14 year olds. Op even replying with a gigachad image.

As someone with an anime profile Pic, that's fair

[-] Godric@lemmy.world 31 points 2 weeks ago

Alack, alas, I am bound by the terms of my own meme. So even though you show great wisdom,

[-] undefined@lemmy.hogru.ch 20 points 2 weeks ago

I just turn off profile pictures. I don’t care what anyone looks like, if I did I’d be on Instagram or some other garbage corpo shit.

[-] faltryka@lemmy.world 14 points 2 weeks ago

I didn’t even know there were profile pics? I’m guessing that’s not an enabled feature for Voyager maybe?

As a weeabo, fine, make fun of us. But I'm tired of people crusading furries and I'm not even one of them.

[-] LwL@lemmy.world 10 points 2 weeks ago

100%, furries get way too much hate. Especially considering how chill they're usually are.

Though honestly unless your pfp betrays some insane political affiliation it shouldn't have relevance on how you see someones reply. I know this is a shitpost but people do that for real. I think my favorite are the xitter boomers dismissing people because their avatar isn't a selfie and they don't using their real names.

[-] aoidenpa@lemmy.world 13 points 2 weeks ago

Anime people are the best. I am downvoting.

How about a spinning skull gif?

I'm sorry, but if it isn't a bronze age statue head or a girl in a bikini laying on the hood of a sports car, I assume this person doesn't have the IQ sufficient for my wit and wisdom.

as someone who's barely watched any anime and doesn't really get furries at all... uh, what. of all the things people can be into, these are the some of least relevant to one's opinions.

someone who has "AI" "art" as pfp? someone who has a flag as their pfp? someone with greek statue or roman soldier as pfp? tell you so much about the person and how fucking worthless their opinions must be. furries? they're just into anthropomorphic animals for some reason dude, i don't care.

Also applies to virtue signalers with fragile masculinity.

Edit: you know votes are public? Fragile ass

[-] misterdoctor@lemmy.world 34 points 2 weeks ago

No way you called someone fragile after looking up the name of the user who pushed the meany button on your comment

It's because they can't stop getting boners when being reminded of the hentai they watched earlier. No biggie
