This game deserves GOTY status IMO. The combat, story, characters and soundtrack are absolutely top tier!

Why not a dedicated showcase on your Steam profile? Arguably even more prestigious, since they're limited in quantity.

[-] AmosBurton_ThatGuy@lemmy.ca 9 points 1 year ago

I haven't messed around much with my Steam profile tbh, I didn't even know that was a thing.

[-] KoboldCoterie@pawb.social 14 points 1 year ago

There's a 'Favorite Game' showcase that highlights a single game!

View your profile, then click 'Edit My Profile'. Click down to the 'Featured Showcase' item on the left nav, choose 'Favorite Game' from the dropdown, choose the game you want, and click Save. Voila!

[-] AmosBurton_ThatGuy@lemmy.ca 8 points 1 year ago

Thanks for the help! Although it's tempting to use that on Fallout: New Vegas or Factorio as well tbh, it's a hard decision between all 3 games.

[-] KoboldCoterie@pawb.social 8 points 1 year ago

You can buy more 'favorite game' showcases (with the Steam 'points' you get when you buy games, not actual money), so if you wanted, you could have them all.

[-] prole 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I like to showcase a silly achievement I've gotten

[-] KoboldCoterie@pawb.social 4 points 1 year ago

Well, you can't just make a statement like that without showing us which one. That's against the internet law.

[-] MrNesser@lemmy.world 17 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Does anyone else have a section of their library for games you never want to play again (various reasons)

[-] IndiBrony@lemmy.world 12 points 1 year ago

Yeah, it's the "Hide this game" option, unless it's something I really don't care to have in my library, then it's the "remove this game from my library" option.

The first one I can think of for the latter was Konami's eFootball. So shit I went straight back to playing old PES games instead.

[-] itstoowet@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

In case you don't know: https://www.pessmokepatch.com/

Standalone modded PES, updated rosters with no purchase required as old pes is essentially abandonware

[-] IndiBrony@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Oh yeah I've got smoke patch - couldn't live without it 😁

Only thing I'm not huge on is that they lock the content so you can't change team names and the strips they've put in.

I like to use pesmaster's kit creator to make custom strips for teams. I've done classic or fantasy strips for most of my favourites.

[-] SuperSaiyanSwag@lemmy.zip 6 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I call mine “played enough”, but I have had a change of heart on occasions and did go back to some of them.

[-] Feyr@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

Yes, and I put clair obscur in it. It's overly produced linear trash with entirely too many cutscenes.

If I wanted to watch a movie, I'd fire up netflix

[-] brucethemoose@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

TBH I love getting attached to good characters with good VAs and cutscenes in games (though I haven't plated 33 yet).

I would cite FemV. CP2077 would be alright with an unvoiced protag (for me), but the voice actress killed it, especially with the dynamic with Johnny.

[-] kajib@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 1 year ago

Ooo interesting take. I'm on the other side of the spectrum - I don't enjoy open world or games with branching paths and would rather have a focused, linear story. E33 was a refreshing take for me, but I can see how it doesn't appeal to people who don't like the "movie" aspect.

[-] yermaw@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 year ago

I wish I wasn't fed up of turn based RPGs. It was fantastic for what it is, I just didnt like what it is.

[-] MrNesser@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

I'm finding I agree with you. Visually it looks great I just never got into it like everyone seemed to

[-] FenrirIII@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

It's called "Nope" and it's where all the crappy games go to die

[-] MrNesser@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Yeah I put brawlhalla and rocket league in mine. Rage inducing crap

[-] threeonefour@piefed.ca 10 points 1 year ago

Not to mention one of the characters spending the entire game barefoot. It's the attention to detail, really.

[-] AmosBurton_ThatGuy@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 year ago

The Sigma of E33, she even floats like he does!

[-] Grass@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 year ago

I didn't even notice, which one? Or is it just the small screen on the steam deck?

[-] threeonefour@piefed.ca 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Lune has rejected the idea of shoes. My headcanon is that she draws her mana from the earth and footwear gets in the way. In the same way that Quiet from Metal Gear breathes through her skin and must wear a bikini at all times.

[-] yoshisaur 7 points 1 year ago

YES! E33 is easily the best rpg I've played. the post game is a bit repetitive but literally everything else is perfect. and that soundtrack... ooh that soundtrack!!

[-] Strider@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

I have to say I think it's a great game... But may I ask since when you're playing rpgs?

(just curious, yeah it's great but...)

A €50 game actually worth the money in this day and age? preposterous

Not natively Linux but it runs just fine under Proton (although maybe not the default version)

[-] coaxil@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 year ago
[-] TheOakTree@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 year ago

https://www.protondb.com/app/1903340

Seems like it works out-of-box for some users, with commands for some, not at all for others.

[-] kieron115@startrek.website 4 points 1 year ago

Somewhere in Chapter 2 my Windows 11 install got corrupted to the point where a recovery upgrade wouldn't even run so I installed CachyOS. I've played a good 4 hours so far and if anything it's running better under Proton. The QTEs feel snappier.

Are you asking or telling?

[-] coaxil@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Telling, sorry, works great on whatever the latest proton via steam is on my rig.

I played quite a bit on the steamdeck with no issues at all. Actually i think i maybe had to upgrade to the latest proton-ge and/or install the video codecs package in winetricks (think i did both at the same time so not sure what fixed it) when i first installed it, but once it was running it worked perfectly fine for the 15 hours or so that ive plqyed so far.

[-] swab148@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 1 year ago

Definitely GOTY, can't wait for DLC and probably a sequel!

spoilerGotta see what those pesky Writers are up to!

Too bad it's an rpg, i.e. I won't be playing it.

[-] Strider@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago

That's fine, it's great to know your genres!

[-] SomethingBurger@jlai.lu 3 points 1 year ago

To be fair, it doesn't have a boring medieval-fantasy D&D setting, which is at least different from 99% of RPGs. I would give it a chance based on that alone.

[-] Lazhward@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Yeh it looks cool, but it's the gameplay that always turns me off with RPGs, I just can't deal with the combat. It's a shame.

[-] papalonian@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

I mean to each to their own, and I'm not gonna try to be one of the people trying to convince you your opinion is wrong, but saying "I don't like the combat in rpg games" in my mind sounds like "I don't like the main character in Sci Fi movies". Baldurs Gate, Skyrim, and The Witcher are all RPGs with entirely different combat systems.. seems odd to me to to say you'd play none of them for that shared reason

[-] Lazhward@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

*turn-based JRPGs

Though I don't really enjoy those other games either... Maybe it's more the pacing? Hit me with constant challenging/engaging gameplay or interesting story and I'm happy, but then RPGs aren't quite either. Too much downtime/filler perhaps.

Anyways, plenty of other games to play, to each their own indeed.

[-] papalonian@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

turn-based JRPGs

Oh, is that what the game is?

I won't be playing it either 😅

[-] TheEighthDoctor@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 year ago

Same for me, I never touched a Final Fantasy (or alike) game and never will, but because of the parry and dodge mechanic I loved E33

[-] gmtom@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Im usually very anti-rpg, but i gave this one a try and loved it.

So if you have gamepass it might be worth trying at least.
