They're saying kids can't get vaccinated unless they have an underlying condition themselves. One issue they're not considering is that children are a plague vector in spreading illness.

As parent, I could exempt my immunocompromised kid from getting vaccinated simply because I don't "believe" on vaccines, thus killing him. But as an immunocompromised parent, I couldn't have my kid get a vaccine to prevent him accidentally killing me. This is not the pro-life party, folks.

"This is not the pro-life party, folks."

It never was.

[-] D_C@sh.itjust.works 6 points 3 weeks ago

I would suggest that not only are they considering kids as plague vectors, but they are also hoping for and planning on it.
Just like the measle parties of the 60s and 70s etc.

Pro-death party does pro-death things.

[-] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 2 points 2 weeks ago

Trump said that Stephen 'PeeWee Himmler" Miller want to reduce the American population to 100 million, and look like him. That's about a 70% reduction in population. So how are they going to do it?

One way is to have terrible health care, so more people die. Another is to have wars, and a draft. That has the advantage of killing all the young men, leaving the lonely young women remaining for the wealthy old men, and the rich nepo-babies who avoided the draft. It also has the advantage of steering trillions of taxpayer money to a few enormous corporations in the military-industrial complex.

The people running our country don’t have any idea what the fuck they’re doing.

[-] Zachariah@lemmy.world 15 points 3 weeks ago

It’s worse for everyone if this is what they’re doing and they know what they’re doing.

[-] imrighthere@lemmy.ca 10 points 3 weeks ago

They know. This is one of yarvins "moral" ways of killing off people.

[-] Azal@pawb.social 4 points 3 weeks ago

They 100% know what they're doing.

You're just assuming them "knowing what they're doing" is going to benefit you.

Gonna be real hard to organize the average person when you're wondering if the person next to you lives in a different reality where vaccines cause autism.

[-] Fedizen@lemmy.world 18 points 3 weeks ago

It was never about health or helping kids. It was always about grievance and revenge.

[-] D_C@sh.itjust.works 4 points 3 weeks ago

You're wrong!
...it's also (mainly) about control.

My three year old got her first round of Covid vaccines as soon as she was able to and then boosters ever since. My husband and I have both gotten flu and Covid vaccines each year. I guess we’ll have to see if there’s a different way to get her protected this fall…

[-] OccamsRazer@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago

The good news is that her risk is very very low.

[-] RedPostItNote@lemmy.world 13 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

Repeat covid infections without vaccine protection are going to absolutely destroy our population. It is beyond stupid we aren't smarter about this.

[-] 93maddie94@lemmy.zip 11 points 3 weeks ago

Yes, but I work in an elementary school and she goes to preschool full time so it’s not bad to be cautious

Is it just because the Project 2025 authoritarian criminals are in control, or is there an actual issue with the vaccine?

I'm not really getting an answer to that from the article, for now I have to assume the former.

[-] CosmicTurtle0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 16 points 3 weeks ago

One of the goals of Project 2025 is to sow distrust in established government programs. Think about your building codes. You don't think a lot about them unless you are building something. You may not give a fuck as to why outlets have to be at least a foot off the floor (or whatever it is) but let's say some asshole comes around and says "Electricity doesn't exist man! It's just the Holy Spirit!"

And then say that asshole is put in charge of electrical codes for your state.

Are you going to trust any change he makes? Are you going to trust any revisions that are made in the future, even if they return back to what they were before?

There is so much doubt in the system now that I am even worried about vaccine safety. Because you know ivermectin is about to be sold as some voodoo cure for cancer.

[-] jacksilver@lemmy.world 5 points 3 weeks ago

Talks of rolling back vaccines is directly tied to Maha and Republicans, just like cutting funding to mrna vaccines.

The best bet though would be to look at other nations to see what they're doing and keep in mind that RFK Jr pushes anti-science medical policy.

[-] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 1 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

rfk jrs mind, you can detect multiple different brainwaves of worms in there. after its been bathed in heroin instead of cerebrospinal fluid.

[-] vaultdweller013@sh.itjust.works 1 points 3 weeks ago

Can we push RFK Jr into the science machine? The science machine is a wood chipper.

[-] blargle@sh.itjust.works 3 points 3 weeks ago

The only legislation that the right does that is 'rational' involves the removal of regulations on buisiness and the upward transfer of of wealth.

Everything else they do is A: Performative: designed to reinforce the narrative of their alternate-reality propaganda channels (If what Fox News has been talking about is really going on, these are the actions a responsible government would take in response.) B. Provoke a hostile reaction from the left, so that they can lie to the people in their propaganda bubble about why the left doesn't want this; proving that they're dangerous enemies.

Or, some combination of A and B. It's not just present-day Republicans who operate this way. It's every right wing party around the world throughout history. They use lies to get into power and then use their power to make their lies the only truth.

[-] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago

That's the scariest bit, you can't know. When it's over whether its in 4 or 40 years all science from the regime will be useless trash

[-] Bytemeister@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

There are some very slight issues with the mRNA vaccines, but it's not a health concern. The may be slightly less efficacious than a vaccine containing a weakend or inactive coronavirus because the mRNA vaccines work by having your cells produce a very specific protein on part of the virus instead of the whole outer shell (capsid) of the virus, which provides more proteins that your immune system can recognize. This could lead to a narrower "immunity envelope" as the virus evolves over time.

I've had about 8 mRNA shots at this point. If there was a major issue, I'd probably know about it by now.

[-] Kazumara@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 2 weeks ago

I’ve had about 8 mRNA shots at this point. If there was a major issue, I’d probably know about it by now.

I've had 6 as well, but I was more worried about the effect on under 5 year olds :-)

As I said though, as long as I hear nothing more concrete I have to assume the FDA is simply compromised.

[-] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 1 points 2 weeks ago

mRNA vaccines are being used to in increasingly successful trials against cancer. There was a recent announcement that they were able to use mRNA technologies to customize a treatment to fight a patient's specific cancer, which could be used to cure many types of cancer. The discovery is so big, that they think they could use it to create actual vaccines against some cancers.

They want to ban the most promising cancer research.

What are some good Canadian and/or Mexican pharmacies near the border I can make a road trip out of? Asking for, uh, for a friend.

[-] Keyboard@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago

I didn’t took the vaccine and will never take it

[-] Rhaedas@fedia.io 17 points 3 weeks ago

If you mean just Covid, then at a minimum you probably helped spread it without getting sick, so thanks. If you mean vaccines in general, good luck, there's some nasty crap out there that over time has shown vaccines helped protect people. Ask any old person who witnessed polio. Or measles. Or didn't get their shingles shot in time and had to go through that mess.

I mean, you can ignore science, but reality doesn't care what you believe.

Good for you staying alive, but why does your opinion matter on whether I get my kids vaccinated?

[-] Keyboard@lemmy.world 1 points 3 weeks ago

Kids. Not your kids.
