U.S. President Donald Trump on Thursday is expected to sign an order requiring universities to hand over admissions data to prove that they are not engaged in affirmative action efforts, the White House press secretary said in a post on X.

In her post on X, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt did not give details on the order such as the ramifications universities will face if they do not cooperate.

What's he hoping to see to "prove that they are not engaged in affirmative action?" Is it admission that is demographically consistent with the region in which the university is located? Or is it admission that is prominently the same race as the president?

That last one, they are going to penalize anything that isn't admitting more white males than anyone else.

Universities are gonna just provide fake numbers. Now that bullshit is the only currency the White House will accept there will be nothing except bullshit spent there.

If there is nothing wrong, no need to hide.

Not any reason to not share this data. If it seems to project a bias, let the discussions begin. There could be a lot of things said about such discussions, but it needs to take place nonetheless

Until you are on the list because you're black and they say it's a DEI hire and they force the university to expel you. Dude, your way of thinking is dangerous.

The problem is DEI hiring, not being black.

How is DEI hiring a problem?

Notice how they said there 'needs to be a discussion' and then they slink away when an explanation is warranted

Wow, an open white nationalist in our midst. I didn't think we'd see this on lemmy.

We used to beat them up when they showed up to openly communist crust punk shows. This is the modern version of that, but this time around I can't punch them in the face.

Nah. The problem is pedophilic rapists like Trump.

There is reason not to share this data. It was collected in demographic forms under the premise it would be used responsibly, not for purposes like what the Trump administration is trying to do.

Yeah OK kinda forgot the whole ICE thing going on in the USA. In that case its not responsible

I call bullshit on this. They would never willingly compile evidence of systematic racism. They might start down this road until they see what the data demonstrates then they will either sweep it under the carpet or play with how they define races to obscure it.

Are you saying the universities are being racist against white people?
