Donald Trump is looking to hire 10,000 officers to help carry out his administration’s widespread detention and deportation of migrants with tens of billions of dollars in funds from his “Big Beautiful Bill.”

Job postings show that in 25 cities from coast to coast, Immigration and Customs Enforcement is hiring deportation officers who will arrest, detain, and deport migrants, and manage migrants’ cases. The listings give insight into where ICE may be ramping up operations.

ICE has already been carrying out broad arrests, including at workplaces and courthouses. Agents have been wearing masks and lacking identifying information as they snatch immigrants, sometimes breaking their car windows to drag them out faster.

So, what do they do when they run out of people to deport?

[-] Fenrisulfir@lemmy.ca 4 points 3 hours ago

They won’t run out of people to deport, just “illegals”. Then they expand the definition of illegals. Then they make LGBTQ+ illegal. Then they make political dissenters illegal. It’s basic divide and conquer strategy by “other-ing” minority groups of people.

The ICE prisons budgeted will double the amount of prisoners in the US. They aren't going to stop with the undocumented folks nor immigrants

Call these men out. They sold out their country for Trump, a job, and tickets too your local sports team. Seriously. These men have family, friends, homes. They are among us. Thats why they need masks. But we know who they are. We just need to communicate better. We have "Tea" apps to call out bad past sexual conquests (both men and women are doing it and it's literally the sign of what hyper individualism does.) but we don't have an app to call out or fascist secret police?! Yall wake up!

I had to pass through a 'security checkpoint' returning from near a border, and one of the signs they had up was instructions to apply for a job.

[-] YknsNMo000@thelemmy.club 3 points 6 hours ago

Soon they'll delocalize the job and hire a bunch of mercenaries. That's what franco did

[-] TuffNutzes@lemmy.world 1 points 3 hours ago

May every one of America's secret police be hunted to the ends of their lives like Nazis in Germany.

If I ever find out someone in my family is an ICE agent, I'll never fucking let them forget it.

I will make it my purpose in life to punish them.

[-] burntbacon@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 7 hours ago

Not letting them forget it is a start, I suppose.

  • Go get a job at ICE
  • Be as useless as possible. Gum up the gears

I feel like just turning on location sharing on your phone could be quite productive. You could drop burner phones under the seats of all the vehicles. Take pictures with all your new work friends while you're unmasked having lunch. Get their contact info.

Nothing about this institution screams competence or strict procedure and they're trying to staff up so much they can't thoroughly vet applicants.

They give daily quotas. They're saying they don't so that people will be less hesitant to join up with Nazis. You should be hesitant.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/aug/03/trump-administration-daily-quota-immigration-arrests

In a new court filing, attorneys for the Trump administration denied the existence of a daily quota for immigration arrests, despite reports and prior statements from White House officials about pursuing a goal of at least 3,000 deportations or deportation arrests per day.

In May, reports from both the Guardian and Axios revealed that during a meeting with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (Ice) leaders on 21 May, the White House adviser Stephen Miller and the Department of Homeland Security secretary, Kristi Noem, demanded that immigration agents seek to arrest 3,000 people per day.

Now repeat after me for when you sign up: if I was good at counting I'd have been a musician. Or I dunno a cook.

At a time when the U.S. job market is slowing down and prices remain high, ICE is offering $50,000 signing bonuses and $60,000 in student loan repayment with a salary of about $50,000 to $90,000.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has already issued 1,000 tentative job offers, the Associated Press reported Friday. A spokesperson for DHS said many of the people offered jobs were “ICE officers who retired under President Biden because they were frustrated that they were not allowed to do their jobs.” These retired officers are being offered $88,000 to $144,000 along with a $50,000 bonus.

A. Fucking scumbags B. Please don't let anyone forget that the BBB took away healthcare for millions of Americans in order to pay for these salaries

[-] witchybitchy@lemmy.world 4 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago)

88 to 144 thousand. hmm I've seen those numbers paired together before ...

[-] ThePantser@sh.itjust.works 24 points 20 hours ago

Fucking student loan forgiveness? Fucking fuck fuckers. But my wife who has been in civil service for the 10 required years can't get what was promised?

[-] AcidiclyBasicGlitch@sh.itjust.works 24 points 20 hours ago

Oh, I think I can see where the mix up happened.

It sounds like your wife was trying to serve her country in order to help keep it running. If you want to be rewarded under this administration you have to be willing to betray your country in order to help dismantle it.

[-] ProIsh@lemmy.world 16 points 21 hours ago

This is where a flood of dems need to fill these. Get the money, be incompetent, you probably wouldn't even be that far off a regular worker. Suck up that hourly

[-] Lucidlethargy@sh.itjust.works 2 points 11 hours ago

Fun idea, but reality is dark. Don't give bad agents this cop out.

[-] Zaktor@sopuli.xyz 2 points 7 hours ago* (last edited 7 hours ago)

No one who could portray their work as intentionally incompetent is at any risk of facing consequences. Even the top agents running up numbers of gardeners and grandmothers probably won't. Limiting current resistance for a fairly tale of future consequences is not a good trade off.

[-] SheeEttin@lemmy.zip 11 points 20 hours ago

Gum up the works where you can, and document everything you see. Hopefully it'll be used at trial.

[-] AcidiclyBasicGlitch@sh.itjust.works 7 points 20 hours ago* (last edited 19 hours ago)

I think they give them quotas to make sure they're bringing people in. And maybe even lists of names to detain? Like bounty hunters for the federal government.

[-] Zaktor@sopuli.xyz 3 points 7 hours ago

So you'll be fired eventually. Or maybe not if they're still understaffed. It takes quite a while to tell the difference between natural incompetence and sabotage.
