this isnt a shitpost. this is a shit fucking post. fuck ai. how can people still not tell, its so damn obv and uglyy ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ

[-] rozodru@lemmy.world 3 points 16 hours ago

it's always so washed out, every. single. AI. IMAGE. regardless of style they all look washed out and flat. there's zero vibrant colors for anything. One of them just gorged on this "trend" and all the rest of them followed suite eating the slop.

It's gotten to the point now where you don't even need to look at the inaccuracies with something, you just need to look at the colors to tell if it's AI or not.

What does that mean? I'm unfamiliar with AI. Does that mean a human instructed an AI to make that pic or was it cranked out by the AI itself, programmed to scour and use news items from the digital world?

[-] SlartyBartFast@sh.itjust.works 2 points 16 hours ago

The former, I don't believe the tech is up for the latter for another six months

[-] tetris11@feddit.uk 3 points 19 hours ago

We'll take you on Starlight tours instead, honest injun!

[-] neons@lemmy.dbzer0.com 15 points 1 day ago

......

This makes it sound like sending you to concentration camps with due process is fair game lol

[-] turdburglar@sh.itjust.works 77 points 1 day ago
[-] argarath@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago

How did you identify it? I didn't catch this one and I want to get better at it

[-] irelephant@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 16 hours ago

Piss filter, distinct style.

[-] koetje78@feddit.nl 2 points 19 hours ago* (last edited 19 hours ago)

The style used did it for me. It seems distinct for at least one popular engine (chatgpt?) as it pops up everywhere. Especially the face and hands.

it just the default gpt art style.

[-] argarath@lemmy.world 1 points 20 hours ago

I've luckily not seen it before, I guess my little bubble has very little AI content? Most of the memes I see are the typical old web nonsense so maybe it is indeed luck

[-] MangoPenguin 28 points 1 day ago

They all have this exact art style, you'll start to see it everywhere.

[-] turdburglar@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 day ago

uniform line weight, creamy yellow ground, font and text placement.

[-] argarath@lemmy.world 2 points 20 hours ago

The font and text placement are indeed really big giveaways, I thought it was weird that the text didn't follow the angle of the drawing, and the font is so uninspiring and meh, also the line thickness, that's so true too!! Thank you!!!!

[-] burgerpocalyse@lemmy.world 14 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

pay attention to how intentional things are. nothing in this picture is motivated. the man has his arm raised, but not in a welcoming manner, more like he's saying hi. he also isnt looking at the viewer. there is also no discernable landmark or important features. the only other thing is a bus, which doesnt have a door on the right, which i dont know about you, but every bus ive seen in north America has the door on the right.

a real advertisement for Canada would likely ask you to visit or experience something about Canada, like a national park or iconic building in a city, or have a recognizable public figure. it absolutely would not bring up something objectively negative like being deported in the same space as an invitation to visit.

all im saying is that, there is a basic language to art and this reads like an alien that is aware that there are rules but does not understand why there are rules nor how they operate

[-] Droggelbecher@lemmy.world 2 points 22 hours ago

While I know this is slop and think your explanations for why you can tell are sound. You're mixing in arguments for why this couldn't be a real ad, and that's a separate argument. I think the assumption is much more likely to be that it's a human made meme and not a real ad.

[-] burgerpocalyse@lemmy.world 1 points 12 hours ago

I'm trying to make the case that it is too clean looking to be made by an amateur and also too alien to be made by a human

[-] argarath@lemmy.world 1 points 20 hours ago

I did not think about the landmark thing!!! That's such a good point!!! I honestly read the hand position as a polite "hey there" but that might be my autism, but it does make sense what you said!! Thank you I'll try to see the bigger "picture" of what the intent of a piece would be and if the drawing is actually attempting to do it, that's a really good point and something AI will not be able to fulfill any time soon!

[-] TheGuyTM3@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 day ago

All the AI drawings have a grainy piss-yellow tone, idk why but it makes the identification easier

[-] argarath@lemmy.world 1 points 20 hours ago

Huh I'll def keep that in mind!! I didn't hear about that before, thank you!!!

[-] absentbird@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

Who has ever seen a yellow Canada tour bus? Pretty much the only yellow busses in US and Canada are for school.

[-] argarath@lemmy.world 1 points 21 hours ago

I've never seen Canadian buses, I thought it was another thing they copied from the US, they are influenced by them a lot and I've never been to Canada myself so I couldn't know, but it makes sense

(apparently my brain forgot the "visit" part of the meme and I typed this up thinking that it was about moving here)

It was difficult to get into Canada when I immigrated ten years ago (it was deeply complicated even as a sponsored individual), and I hear it's even more difficult now. It's a shame, because I know that the idea of escaping to Canada is a hopeful thing for many Americans. I was extremely fortunate. However, the housing shortage alone and a general anti-American sentiment has cast a huge shadow on new entries. Canadians remain as friendly as ever, but trust between them and Americans is also at an all-time low. People at work know I'm American and they love hearing my take on everything, but I don't spread that information to new ears anymore.

I suppose it might be cool for Canada to do a 2-for-1 swap, where they send Texas pairs of whiny, privileged conservatives in exchange for good, left-leaning Americans who actually want to be here.

[-] FreddyNO@lemmy.world 34 points 1 day ago

Ai slop ugh

[-] cley_faye@lemmy.world 32 points 1 day ago

"unless your work involves drawing stuff, in which case fuck off"

[-] TheOrionArm@lemmy.world 16 points 1 day ago

Not to take away from my neighbor Canadia or anything but in fact in every country except the U.S. and El Salvador you can enjoy the benefit of not being thrown in a Salvadoran gulag, try harder Canadia

[-] JimVanDeventer@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

Do not test us or we will throw you in Saskatchewan! A fate worse than death and โ€” now that you ask โ€” no, there is no escape. You will pray to the god who has forgotten you to be released to hell. Spoiler alert: you will wake up in Saskatchewan.

ChatGPT-generated images are getting yellower by the day LOL

[-] DashboTreeFrog@discuss.online 4 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

In a different AI comic conversation someone used the term "slop sepia" and I hope it catches on.

The term, not the slop
