Columbia’s capitulation has turned a university that was once a site of free inquiry and learning into a shadow of its former self, an-anti university, a gated security zone with electronic entry controls, a place of fear and loathing, where faculty and students are told from on high what they can teach and say, under penalty of severe sanctions. Disgracefully, all of this is being done to cover up one of the greatest crimes of this century, the ongoing genocide in Gaza, a crime in which Columbia’s leadership is now fully complicit.

Good. I have a few friends who were Columbia professors and researchers, and they all recently quit and took jobs elsewhere, mostly at much smaller state schools that still respect academic freedom and integrity.

Columbia should be ashamed.

And just like that, SUNY Purchase has one of the best Art History programs in the world. Also, congrats to Brooklyn College for your fantastic new journalism school!

Yeesh, even beyond the obvious, sticking around after that probably puts a real target on your back for a few years later. I would do the same thing.

Seriously, folks. I was born here, grew up here, and never left. Do not come into the country. Basically, we will all let you know when the coast is clear. 🤷 Until then, please, do not risk it, even if you think you are from a friendly country.
