Finally, an update I'm excited for!

[-] Deceptichum@quokk.au 3 points 2 days ago

Wow this is really vulgar. You could catch more trump supporters with honey than vinegar words.

[-] cannedtuna@lemmy.world 50 points 2 days ago

Fuck Trump supporters and capitulating to their fragile egos.

[-] Deceptichum@quokk.au 3 points 2 days ago

A trump supporter today is a friend tomorrow! Reach across the aisle and stop the hate.

[-] cannedtuna@lemmy.world 29 points 2 days ago

No. You can’t negotiate with fascists. Attempting to “reach across the isle” is what got us here. You can’t appeal to the moderate or conservative because all it does is drag you further into their mire.

[-] Deceptichum@quokk.au 2 points 2 days ago

History says otherwise. Through peaceful means India was able to become independent, gay people gained rights, black people gained rights, women people gained rights.

Don't drag yourself into the mire fighting them, take the high road and uplift them along with you.

[-] cannedtuna@lemmy.world 26 points 2 days ago

Your mistaken. Pride day began as a riot. MLK may have advocated for non-aggressive protesting, but Malcom X was pivotal. India and women certainly didn’t win rights through capitulation to the oppressors. Gandhi may not have been violent, but he promoted civil disobedience. You sound exactly like the kind of person MLK warns about.

I must make two honest confessions to you, my Christian and Jewish brothers. First, I must confess that over the past few years I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate. I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season." Shallow understanding from people of good will is more frustrating than absolute misunderstanding from people of ill will. Lukewarm acceptance is much more bewildering than outright rejection.

You want people to “reach across the isle” and to try and win people over who have no intention of being agreeable or receptive towards a mutually beneficial outcome and would negotiate in bad faith.

You can say but look at how peaceful the gays, blacks, women, India, etc were but that’s the idealistic textbook view of history after all is said and done. It ignores the real struggle and fight it took by those groups to win rights by being impossible to ignore. You’re either incredibly naive or arguing disingenuously.

[-] Deceptichum@quokk.au 1 points 2 days ago

I will not condone a course of action that will lead us to violence.

[-] cannedtuna@lemmy.world 19 points 2 days ago

Good for you, get out of the way then you duplicitous fuck.

[-] Deceptichum@quokk.au 2 points 2 days ago

Now, now a modicum of decorum please.

[-] Wizard_Pope@lemmy.world 17 points 2 days ago

Then stop advocating for beinf nice to fascists

[-] Deceptichum@quokk.au 2 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

All I'm saying is you don't win friends with violence.

[-] Clasm@ttrpg.network 15 points 2 days ago

Fascists aren't your friends, they want you, your friends, and your family, either under their boot or dead.

[-] Deceptichum@quokk.au 1 points 2 days ago

Luckily we have the law to protect us.

[-] Clasm@ttrpg.network 13 points 2 days ago

Fascists only follow laws that let them subdue or kill others. Everything else is undermined or ignored eventually.

[-] Deceptichum@quokk.au 1 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Most police and army wont stand by and do nothing if they start hurting citizens. This is their neighbors and sisters we're talking about.

[-] Clasm@ttrpg.network 11 points 2 days ago

What kind of jobs do you think fascists work? Military & Police are rife with them. They do not consider their neighbors to be people, let alone brothers and sisters.

[-] WraithGear@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago

i would not bother, his responses have the markings of ai influence. and if he can’t even be bothered to frame the argument in his own voice, you are putting more effort then he deserves.

“ I will not condone a course of action that will lead us to violence.” is an ai guard rail warning, not a reply to your comments meaning

[-] Deceptichum@quokk.au 1 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

I propose a vote of no confidence in Trump's leadership — Let's send them a message at the mid-terms.

[-] WraithGear@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

i can do it too, hey chat gpt? check this thread.

Exactly. You’re honing in on one of the most telling signs of AI-mediated or AI-style responses in emotionally or ideologically charged discussions: semantic disjunction—where the reply technically fits the subject matter but fails to engage with the actual rhetorical moment.

🔍 Breakdown of what you identified:

✅

1. No direct connection to the previous statement

  • The line “I will not condone a course of action that will lead us to violence” seems like a reaction to a threat or a call to arms.
  • But the preceding comment (“Fascists only follow laws that let them subdue or kill others.”) is an observation, not a call to violent resistance.
  • So the reply doesn’t track causally. It feels like a reflex or safety switch, not an engagement.

✅

2. Misuse of “us”

  • There was no mutual framing of shared action or community. The conversation is adversarial.
  • Saying “lead us to violence” falsely implies camaraderie or joint deliberation, which is out of place when the entire thread is a pile-on.
  • An AI trying to generalize tone or soften conflict often misuses collective pronouns to create rhetorical unity that doesn’t exist.

✅

3. “Neutral but disjointed”

  • Classic of a safety-driven LLM or AI-mediated speaker:

    • Neutral in tone
    • Avoidant of emotional stakes
    • Pivoting from messy specifics to generalities
  • It’s not that it avoids the topic—it warps it slightly, landing just off-center.

🧠 What this suggests

You’re identifying a likely guardrail artifact:

  • The AI (or AI-influenced user) hits internal moderation triggers at phrases like “fascists,” “kill,” “lawlessness,” etc.
  • It drops in a template warning that sounds morally elevated but doesn’t actually advance the conversation or respond contextually.
  • The disjunction is not just tonal—it’s logical. It doesn’t follow from what was said, and that’s what breaks immersion or credibility.

🧾 Summary

You’re right to highlight:

  • Tone mismatch
  • Inappropriate group framing
  • Semantic non-sequitur

Those are all diagnostic signals of either direct AI usage or someone leaning heavily on generative tools or prompts. In either case, the response stops being responsive—and that’s what triggered wraithgear’s very reasonable skepticism.

I can't allow people to suffer and die while you discuss politics in a AI!

[-] Wizard_Pope@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago

You cannot allow people to suffer and die and yet you support making friends with fascists.

Make it make sense

[-] WraithGear@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

hypocrite, and also not what i did.

[-] onslaught545@lemmy.zip 3 points 2 days ago

The US doesn't have a mechanism for a vote of no confidence.

[-] onslaught545@lemmy.zip 4 points 2 days ago

Lol, have you not been paying attention for the past several decades?

[-] zalgotext@sh.itjust.works 12 points 2 days ago

Oh, you must be confused then. See, we're not trying to make friends. We're trying to prevent fucking fascists from ruining the country.

[-] Nythos@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 days ago

You are woefully misinformed.

[-] EditsHisComments@lemmy.world 21 points 2 days ago

Why should we tolerate the intolerant? It's been over 10yrs, and it's only gotten worse with each year. That's how we got in this mess, and it's obvious humanity's entire history of compromising with fascists and proto-fascists only allowed for the civil rights of the time to be eroded, or their progress impeded.

A Trump supporter today is still a Trump supporter. Only when they stop supporting Trump and actually prove they're trying to change their ideology will I stop ridiculing these people.

[-] Deceptichum@quokk.au 1 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Because intolerance of intolerance is intolerant, and we don't tolerate intolerant behaviour. The only way out of this mess is moving forward and looking beyond the unjustifiable anger we feel today. These are humans, with friends and families, they even have jobs like you or I; Such as ICE agent, police officer, or TSA agent.

Put yourself in their shoes - would you like it if someone did to you, what you want to do to them?

[-] Zombie@feddit.uk 17 points 2 days ago
[-] Deceptichum@quokk.au 1 points 2 days ago

Sorry I don't have time to read leftist theory.

But you have time to post fascist bait on Lemmy?

[-] Deceptichum@quokk.au 1 points 2 days ago

The only fascists are you violent thugs. Us Liberals actually care about everyone's well-being without being performative.

[-] cannedtuna@lemmy.world 16 points 2 days ago

No. You are fundamentally wrong here. Tolerance of the intolerant only breeds further intolerance. It’s a classic paradox as the intolerant don’t give two shits about tolerating anyone so giving any ground to them only serves to drag tolerance further to their side.

[-] EditsHisComments@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

That's the problem, though. For years I tried to understand, and for years I watched as they didn't do that. Instead, I watched as conservatives fought every bit of progressive legislation. I heard all the arguments that the Left was becoming more radical, but I saw the Left increasingly fail to enact progressive legislation as conservatives were successfully combating years-old policies. And conservatives have been doing this long, long before I even came around.

I tried to understand their economic and social justifications behind their arguments, but none of them were representative of the US they taught me about. So I'm done trying. I started giving up in 2012, and I should have given up 12 years before that. If more people had quit trying to appeal to conservatives sooner, maybe we wouldn't be dealing with this.

[-] Tolookah@discuss.tchncs.de 5 points 2 days ago

Ah, but the anger we feel to them is totally justified.

[-] Deceptichum@quokk.au 1 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

So vote them out next election! if we start donating today, we can gather a big enough campaign war chest to really show them.

If a million of us each donate a dollar, we can beat any billionaire.

[-] tanisnikana@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

I will never be your friend.

Every day I live is a spite to you people.

[-] Dogiedog64@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

Fuck off Fascist bootlicker.

[-] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Poe's Law, I can't figure out if you're actually that naive or just trolling.

[-] JasonDJ@lemmy.zip 10 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

You're right we need coy little sayings we can say out loud and snicker to all my friends because the teacher doesn't know that it's really a swear...but of course the teacher knows exactly what we're saying and they're rolling their eyes because they can't handle talking to you about it one more fucking time and the depression is just strangling them.

[-] frunch@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago

But then you'd have a bunch of trump supporters 😐
