The amount of things that kid has done and has already faced like 0 repercussions is just sickening and sad. Really clear a two tier justice system.

The party of family values and law and order

[-] SkyeStarfall 22 points 1 day ago

Of course they have family values!

As in "My family is valuable and everyone else can die in a hole"!

“The child wasn’t injured” is categorically the stupidest excuse. Also, the child was 2 or 3.

As a severe child abuse survivor, I couldn’t be beaten daily or else I would’ve died or had serious and long lasting injury. You’re typically appeasing your abuser to get out of the beatings. The verbal abuse can still continue though. Please report your family and friends if you suspect child abuse; the child doesn’t deserve it and there are even physiological damages as a result of the anxiety of appeasement.

Child abuse is Jesus Approved! Otherwise her Voters would be FURIOUS!

[-] Gates9@sh.itjust.works 8 points 1 day ago

Holy shit, I didn’t know this asshole has such a long rap sheet. He’s a fucking career criminal. I know exactly how he’s stayed out of prison, but he should definitely be there. I would not be one bit surprised if he kills somebody one day.

"The child wasn't injured."

Yes they were, just like the abuser was, as a child. We live what we learn.

Well at least he wasn’t getting a handjob in a theater…that would have been embarrassing.

Amazing how generous we are with our language when the criminal is Hitler-approved demographically.

[-] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 15 points 1 day ago

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, eh?

[-] ScrambledEggs@lazysoci.al 9 points 1 day ago

Child abuse? Is this in relation to the minor he knocked up?

[-] brucethemoose@lemmy.world 11 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

TBH I hate going after family like this, unless they’re explicitly inserting themselves in their parent's politics. Feels gross.

[-] nokturne213@sopuli.xyz 27 points 1 day ago

So he should not have been charged with child abuse?

[-] MrVilliam@sh.itjust.works 19 points 1 day ago

I'm not OP, but I'm guessing that they're referring to the news story more than the law enforcement. I don't think that this is newsworthy. Criminal charges happen all the time, but this one is only getting attention because his mommy is in Congress; I have no reason to believe that she's involved in this crime in any way. I also didn't give a shit about Hunter Biden's drug addictions or gun crime or whatever else was going on with him. It would be newsworthy if these people weren't charged because that would indicate that there are no consequences for family of politicians.

[-] onslaught545@lemmy.zip 16 points 1 day ago

I think the child of a politician actually being charged with a crime is newsworthy.

[-] MrVilliam@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 day ago

You know what? You're right. But it shouldn't be. I'm wrong to assume that things are as they should be and that politicians' families are not dodging consequences.

[-] brucethemoose@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

This ^ is what I meant.

[-] Theprogressivist@lemmy.world 11 points 1 day ago

And what? Your idea is to just let these people do whatever the fuck they want? You're gross for wanting to allow this gross piece of shit walk.

[-] MBech@feddit.dk 11 points 1 day ago

I think what the person meant was publicly attacking this dude, because we hate his mother. This wouldn't even get a mention in the back of a newspaper if he wasn't her son.

What he did was probably super bad, I don't give enough of a shit to read the article about it. But the reality is that something equally bad happens literally everywhere all the time, but the only reason this gets any publicity is because his mother is a piece of shit.

[-] Theprogressivist@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago

As someone else commented on this thread. I believe the child of a politician actually facing repercussions is newsworthy.

[-] forrgott@lemmy.sdf.org 2 points 1 day ago

Umm. Wow. That's completely delusional.
