“You will never be disappointed with the United States of America.”

Taking bets on if she already is. I know I am.

He’s an idiot, or surrounded by idiots. Hard to say which at this stage

[-] qaz@lemmy.world 10 points 2 weeks ago

Perhaps both?

Sewage pits get their name from the one thing they usually contain: sewage. Sure, one can try to distinguish between the ingredients, but most people just want that shit gone.

If I was any of these countries that received these so called letters, I’d just not reply. At all.

Time to start ignoring America.

I have been saying this since the fucking "liberation day". The more you give in to a bully, the more he will continue to ask of you. If you give your lunch money today, he will ask for it again, tomorrow.

Shoutout to Mr. Krasnov for supporting European federalism lmao

[-] daw@feddit.org 4 points 2 weeks ago

Honestly I wish we would take the step and unify properly 💯💯💯

Donald Trump is a European Federalist confirmed? /s

[-] brot@feddit.org 3 points 2 weeks ago

We know that Trump is totally unqualified as president and that he is in total mental decline. We do not need to discuss what it is, but it is obvious that he is not mentally well. The sanewashing in the media has to stop and we should stop pretending that what is coming from him makes any sense

EU has one currency, a president, Frontex, a High Representative for Common Foreign and Security Policy or foreign minister, regulations that are essentially laws, courts, and they can use the Nato command structure if the US opts out of a conflict. Why should anyone but Europeans not think that the EU is a country?

[-] normalexit@lemmy.world 8 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

This is clearly a form letter that was hastily sent without due diligence.

The EU is not a country. A normie on the street might think of it as one, but the US government should understand / recognize the nuance. Whether this was a subtle dig or incompetence I'm not sure. Probably both.

[-] plyth@feddit.org 1 points 2 weeks ago

I understand that. But the nuances are dissolving. Soon the EU will be a country and this was the first time the citizens were made aware of it.

[-] Gaylactus@lemmy.world 6 points 2 weeks ago

I understand that.

Clearly, you don't

The fact of you being oblivious that many EU state members populations feel that there are more differences than communalities with other member states, and that such a decision would require a large majority of the popular vote, in all the countries involved, to be achieved.

Even for a nation to join the EU, referendums are done for that purpose alone, much less to transform the EU into a Federation, and specially considering the current political climate, and the rise of far-right sentiment all around the world.

We are more likely to see WW3 start, than seeing a federated EU, and odds are, with a WW3, humans will no longer have the need for any federation of any sort. Maybe cockroaches will!

[-] plyth@feddit.org 1 points 2 weeks ago

Formalities. If the EU controls everything there is no need to turn it into a federation. Besides it will never happen because the mechanism to determine the commission is too good to be changed.

[-] Gaylactus@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

Well, my parents always told me to not contradict crazy people, so I will respectfully leave this conversation. My thoughts and prayers to you!

[-] JackbyDev@programming.dev 2 points 2 weeks ago

I get your argument, I genuinely do, but this isn't some harmless, fun semantic discussion about what is or isn't a country online amongst friends, this is the president of the United States making a massive mistake in an official communication.
