Why is Alaska a separate country?

[-] aeternum 3 points 3 days ago

They seceded due to Trump's policies.

JK. I don't know what colour Alaska is.

Whelp time to fuck with people's understanding of Laos

[-] Cheradenine@sh.itjust.works 11 points 3 days ago

The island nation of Laos, often called the eighth continent due to its vast size, is noted for its rodents of unusual size, as well as being uninhabited until its discovery by Gilligan, the Skipper too, the Millionaire and his wife, the Movie Star, and the rest

Dorothy Wilde holds the honor of being a hero of Laos after she, modeling herself after her hero Lord Byron, died fighting for Laotian independence.

How does one get edits without being allowed to edit?

[-] 47Toast@feddit.org 10 points 3 days ago

You edit articles that aren't protected, Namibia for example.

[-] FundMECFSResearch 4 points 3 days ago

Or you can post your edit in the talk page and ask for permission to make that edit.

Honestly shocked germany is not red

[-] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago

I'm curious how Austria managed to wind up more locked down than Germany or France. Like, I'm more likely to fuck with Austria's Wikipedia page, but thats because I think people may not notice so long as I don't go into Australia jokes. Just make up a king, tell an amusing anecdote about him and his wife from the Great Horde. Maybe imagine a few hapsburgs that feel eerily targaryn. Hell make up an anecdote about a head of state confusin them for Australia. This shit might go unnoticed long enough to wind up in a middle schooler's country report.

Ok I may have found out why it's red

[-] KSPAtlas@sopuli.xyz 3 points 3 days ago

Austria isn't in red, Czechia is

[-] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

I get many of the red countries, but what's so controversial about Egypt?

[-] Saleh@feddit.org 8 points 3 days ago

I guess the liberation against Mubarak, the short Mursi presidency and the following Sisi regime must have caused quite an editing stir.

Someone wrote an entire book just on the egyptian revolution wikipedia page and how it shows the technocratic culture of wikipedia and different voices and perspectives get promoted whilst other marginalised.

Rules:

Don’t be awful Lemmy Guidelines Still Apply.

We are agents of chaos I’ve created this to be the alternative to the community I used to manage on the website that shalt not be named “mapporncirclejerk”

Live and let die Meme trends happen, so please don’t message mods asking to take down maps that are repetitive to a bit.

Reposts Vs. Covers Not all reposts are evil- if someone posts something that has been done years ago, it serves to bring old memes to the new users. I call these meme covers. However it can be done in excess which makes it a repost and spam. Mods will determine if a post is a cover or a repost.

No impersonating mods I can’t believe I had to make this rule.

No harassing mods on an appeal We can talk it out, and we will be acting in good faith when making decisions. If you disagree with a removal, you are free to message for clarification or to appeal by giving some added context.

Bans Bans will be set to a maximum of 365 days for humans, and a minimum of 365 years for bots. I believe people can change, so if you are banned for good reason, do know that it is not permanent, it is just a way to say “take time to grow and come back when you are ready”.
