we absolutely did. used to have panic attacks when even asked what kind of music we liked, or other simple things like that, just because of the dissonance. now that we are older and finally all talking to one another, we are each able to cultivate our own interests and so answering those questions and knowing ‘who’ we are metaphorically is getting easier.

If you're American, our entire society is based on trying to stop people from knowing who they really are.

I think the only way to truly know is to detach from society ...or I guess detox from it and then re-enter it.

Oh, why is it based on that?

Marketing, capitalism, and tradition?

We're not exactly seeing all the links between the first two and not knowing who someone or somemany is/are. The latter we do to some degree.

Plurality

99 readers
1 users here now

This is a community for those who identify as, or are questioning if they may be, plural. No matter what kind of, or the source of their plurality all are part of the plurality umbrella and are more than welcome here! We also encourage those who are curious about plurality and want to learn more about it, as well as those who are questioning.

What is plurality? - still being written

TLDR for community rules

  1. Follow lemmy.blahaj.zone general rules: no personal attacks, no insults, no doxing etc.
  2. All plural identities are valid; do not dispute the validity of anyone or anymany.
  3. Don’t pressure those who are questioning; let them decide whether they’re plural or not.
  4. We are not therapists or professionals; this community is not a substitute for professional help > (though we understand being careful with 'professionals' as they are often not kind to us plural folks).
  5. Be mindful of what you post here; put trigger warning in the post title for negative and/or triggering contents.
  6. All rules apply regardless of who or what is using an account; as with real life, each member of a plural group is responsible for the entire group.
  7. Do not insist any stop using a term they prefer to refer to themselves.
