How did america elect this guy twice? So pathetic.

[-] Angry_Autist@lemmy.world 10 points 23 hours ago

40 years of crippled public education and propaganda talk radio

It isn't pathetic, it is an engineered strategy that has been ongoing since before any of us were born and it's working because almost no one bothers to do anything but meme about it

[-] tamman2000@lemmy.world 6 points 23 hours ago

I have my doubts that we did it twice. 2024 looks fishy. I'm glad it's finally starting to get talked about

[-] Angry_Autist@lemmy.world 3 points 23 hours ago

Do you really think it will matter even if they find obvious election fraud?

[-] tamman2000@lemmy.world 3 points 22 hours ago

I think it might get a lot of people who don't like what's happening but accept it to cross over into not accepting it.

I'm not super hopeful that it would matter legislatively or judicially, but I might be the kick in the pants the population needs to go on a general strike, or take other actions.

[-] Angry_Autist@lemmy.world 3 points 22 hours ago

Sincerely hope you are right, we've gotten so many kicks in the pants so far

I mean, No Kings day was good but we need to do this EVERY DAY

[-] Angry_Autist@lemmy.world 1 points 21 hours ago

I hope you are right and will put what effort I can towards the goal, I just am not as sure about the outcome as you are.

[-] hardcoreufo@lemmy.world 12 points 23 hours ago

I feel like getting trump to write an angry tweet about you is as good an endorsement as Weird Al wanting to parody your song.

[-] surph_ninja@lemmy.world 6 points 20 hours ago

I wish he was a communist. I hope I get to vote for a communist in my lifetime.

[-] conditional_soup@lemm.ee 52 points 1 day ago

I read AOC +3 as like a d&d style stat modifier.

[-] DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social 11 points 1 day ago

She's approaching peak power, send more vibes and she might upgrade to artifact

[-] wpb@lemmy.world 39 points 1 day ago

Calling that disgusting snake Chuck Schumer the Palestinian senator is pretty hilarious, given where he stands on the genocide.

[-] geneva_convenience@lemmy.ml 26 points 1 day ago

Weird too because Shumer did not endorse Mamdani. Only a "congratulations". But in Trump land anything goes

[-] Squirrel@thelemmy.club 25 points 1 day ago

Looks terrible, grating voice, not very smart... Hmm, who does that remind me of?

[-] hardcoreufo@lemmy.world 4 points 23 hours ago

Republicans always whine about themselves.

[-] VitabytesDev@feddit.nl 20 points 1 day ago

Trump says somebody else is not smart

[-] caboose2006@lemmy.world 13 points 1 day ago

I'll often judge someone's character by who hates them. Zohran seems like a good guy

[-] frezik 15 points 1 day ago

Make the man afraid some more.

[-] TheObviousSolution@lemm.ee 18 points 1 day ago

He's prepping up the fascist transition for the midterms, and it couldn't be any more obvious. If it isn't outright theft it's going to be voter suppression and voter manipulation on an entirely different scale. It's so ridiculous to think the US is a democracy anymore, at this point the whole country is a confidence game and a scam that's just mobilizing the capital of the people who they already have scammed against new targets.

[-] Neuromorph@lemm.ee 12 points 1 day ago

has trump said anything about RKJ's voice being weird?

[-] ynthrepic@lemmy.world 13 points 1 day ago

I don't think I've ever read anything so unhinged from a politician before.

[-] Trihilis@ani.social 8 points 1 day ago

Imagine calling someone out for his looks in a professional setting. In most places that would get you fired or sued.

[-] ynthrepic@lemmy.world 1 points 23 hours ago* (last edited 23 hours ago)

So it should. We're supposed to be more civil than that. But as others have said, this is mask off. Trump unmasking what has been lying under the surface of the capitalistic elite for decades. Utter contempt for the working class who are basically regarded as slaves, and anyone with any influence or power who challenges them is painted as a traitor, criminal, and honorary slave as well.

Then you haven't seen his 20 minute meltdown post over what AOC said a few days ago.

[-] ynthrepic@lemmy.world 1 points 23 hours ago

Over her proposing to impeach to him? I didn't but I can imagine. Does he want to "deport" her as well?

[-] SwingingTheLamp@midwest.social 9 points 1 day ago

I mean... good? Why would we want a politician that's acceptable to him?

[-] SoGrumpy@lemmy.ml 14 points 1 day ago

Honestly, if I lived in NY, this post on it's own would make me vote for him.

Of course, I'd have to live in the US too, which I don't, thank some deity.

[-] AnalogousFortune@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

That same deity is responsible for me living there. So.. thanks will not be given here

[-] Angry_Autist@lemmy.world 3 points 23 hours ago

Pretty disgusted by all of you memeing the collapse of democracy

[-] fodor@lemmy.zip 2 points 20 hours ago

That's okay, we feel the same way about you. But more to the point, when you're in a situation where the only choice is whether to laugh or cry, it's just a question of how you want to cope.

[-] Angry_Autist@lemmy.world 1 points 19 hours ago

Before reddit went soft there would be a dozen busy political activism threads encouraging people to join the protests and giving info how.

That's a lot better reaction than laughing or crying

I expected lemmy to be better and it turns out your just a touch more eloquent but that's all

[-] BigDiction@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago

It’s like there was a creative writing exercise with a prompt to pack as much bullshit as possible into 5 sentences.

It’s constantly horrifying that our president communicates like this in public. Completely unreal.

[-] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 15 points 1 day ago

More shrieking dictator every day.

[-] TwinTitans@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago

Ha ha ha. This guys such a snowflake.

[-] Quadhammer@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

Communist Trump doing it again

[-] Not_mikey@lemmy.dbzer0.com 52 points 1 day ago

I like how they've gone full mask off and given up on the anti-semite attacks and are just calling anyone not calling for Gaza to be ethnically cleansed a Palestinian like it's an insult. Not even hiding the Islamophobia any more.

It's also double funny that he's calling fucking Schumer a Palestinian, it's like calling Biden a communist, which he also probably said. It just goes to show no matter how much the dems try to moderate to accommodate the conservatives they'll always be the enemy.

He looks TERRIBLE, his voice is grating, he's not very smart, he's got AOC+3, Dummies ALL, backing him, and even our Great Palestinian Senator, Cryin' Chuck Schumer, is groveling over him.

As a Canadian I know almost nothing about Zohran Mamdani, but I do know that he has more class than a man ever will who, while President of the USA, writes this, or the people who see a non-white left-winger win a democratic vote and immediately call for his deportation. The world can see this. Trump and MAGA are bringing shame on your country.

[-] Reverendender@sh.itjust.works 123 points 2 days ago

We know. We’re miserable. (Us sane people, anyway).

It's a Mayor these guys are freaking out over.

The president is freaking out over a Mayor.

That's true fear. They know we intend to use the law to put the real criminals in prison.

[-] markovs_gun@lemmy.world 44 points 2 days ago

To be fair, NYC is a huge city and so its mayor is a major figure in the US. The most recent population I could find was 8.8 million people, vs. the total US at 340 million. NYC is, therefore, home to 2.6% of the US population. As a polity, NYC represents more people than the 9 least populous states (Wyoming, Vermont, Alaska, N Dakota, S Dakota, Delaware, Rhode Island, Montana, and Maine) combined. In fact, there are only 12 US states that have a bigger population than NYC alone, and one of those is New York state. From a population perspective, the mayor of NYC is equivalent to the governor of Virginia. That's why everyone is freaking out about this so much. Plus he's young and very handily beat the candidate backed by the DNC establishment, showing cracks in what they assumed was a solid neoliberal core.

"All the (centrist fucks) are extreme leftist Marxists!"

"OMG a (milquetoast moderate) won, the Marxists are taking over!"

"Holy shit a (moderately left leaning person) won an election! It's over for America the Communists won!"

"The crazy Marxist Democrat extreme leftists have gone too far with this (standard progressive)"

...etc etc...

now we have an "actual" socialist, but the boy cried wolf so many times they can't label him anything more extreme because they already threw those words at people like... (Checks notes)... Nancy Pelosi... Lol

[-] _AutumnMoon_ 2 points 23 hours ago

I want an actual communist to win some election, just to see how much they freak out

[-] cmeu@lemmy.world 60 points 2 days ago

Remember when people didn't get elected because they weren't "presidential" enough?

😢

[-] Tillman@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

Not only that but he literally lives off of taxpayer dollars and receives nationalized healthcare.

The irony of saying someone’s not that intelligent when it appears you don’t even know how to use punctuation.

I’m pretty terrible with punctuation but I’m not throwing stones from my glass house.
