I can't tell if this is serious lol. If so, is that possible to even do? How much Old Reddit-like stylization does Lemmy allow mods?

You can have whatever front-end you want, I mean if you can't literally do this with lemmy right now it isn't because of some actual issue it is because whoever has the capacity and knowledge to do it simply has better things to do (understandable lol).

The problem is that the "subscribe" button is handled by the front end. And since there are so many different frontends / clients in use for Lemmy, there's no way to change it for everyone. Even the normal web interface is different for each instance.

Lemmy sadly, afaik doesn't offer the option to set a custom label variable per community for the clients to use.

The only option I see is for an instance to edit the web interface code to relabel the button for this community. But that has to be done through an instance and only works for users of the web interface of that single instance.

TLDR: Technically possible, but will probably not happen.

Ok well I just upgraded my eyes to see the button as saying "Succumb" even though on the backend it still says "Subscribe".
