Literally the most hilarious thing I've read all week. Honestly I wonder if anyone who was involved in this article actually believes that.

It just reads like more placation of the angry masses. "no need to burn things down, we promise he will be gone soon, no protesting necessary either"

[-] octopus_ink@slrpnk.net 241 points 1 month ago

Yeah, I been hearing this for about 4 years now.

[-] MisterNeon@lemmy.world 87 points 1 month ago

Myself falling for hope because Trump made me unemployed:

[-] ininewcrow@lemmy.ca 58 points 1 month ago

Myself flying over from Canada wondering what you guys are doing

[-] MisterNeon@lemmy.world 44 points 1 month ago

Myself after being born into white trash in Texas, never having love for this country, having to stave off poverty for two decades during my lifetime, having taught myself code as my peers resigned themselves to manual labor, and having no options to emigrate out because I have no ties to any origin countries that make up my genetics.

I wish I could be a Canadian. I'd be friendly, helpful, and pay my taxes on time. I'm going to die impoverished in the "land of opportunity".

[-] NobodyElse@sh.itjust.works 32 points 1 month ago

The ruling class benefiting from every aspect of all of this.

[-] 0ops@lemm.ee 21 points 1 month ago

I think this thread proves that there needs to be a peanuts meme community

[-] pdxfed@lemmy.world 11 points 1 month ago

Quick, you need a mental health app and a prescription too. It's not normal to be overwhelmed by this, you're the only one.

Ooh how many times have you heard that it's somehow your fault for not doing enough to get anyone else elected, your fault for not having a degree, your fault for not seeing this coming 10 years ago and making plans then, or your fault for being a dirty American who is American and therefore deserves all the bad things happening?

I've gotten all these, and more.

My personal favorite was being told in the same conversation by two different Canadians, that I should move to Canada, AND that Canada doesn't need some "backwards ass hillbilly trash who wants to fuck his guns as much as his sister" because I mentioned I have family, no college education, and firearms.

Personally I'd prefer to move to an EU country, but if the US ever really did want to invade Canada, I'd want to be there to help defend Canada. You know, with my guns. I've inherited quite a few, have training to use them, and am absolutely willing to train minorities on their use to defend against fascist racist phobic pieces of human refuse.

So basically for one reason or another, country on the planet seems to want someone like me.

Instead we get to sit here, in this shit hole country. Grasping at anything to try and help pull it back from the massive sinkhole it's slipping into. Hoping that enough people help us to make a difference.

I don't think there's a relevant peanuts panel for this...

Similar to the case where he was convicted of multiple felonies and given (checks notes) not even a slap on the wrist?

[-] entwine413@lemm.ee 50 points 1 month ago

But it's on his permanent record! Surely that's punishment enough.

If Trump faces any consequences during his term, I’ll eat my fucking hat.

[-] unexposedhazard@discuss.tchncs.de 28 points 1 month ago

I would exclude assassination from that bet if i were you.

[-] urno@lemmy.world 25 points 1 month ago

I’m already disfigured from crossing my fingers too hard.

[-] entwine413@lemm.ee 17 points 1 month ago

I wouldn't. The people who would actually do that are part of his cult.

[-] pennomi@lemmy.world 12 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Yes, and there’s already been a conservative shooter attempt at assassinating Trump. I wouldn’t count that possibility out.

oh great, we're back to the old "trump's in biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig trouble THIS TIME!!!" headlines

can we please stop it with these bullshit posts? they are not uplifting, they are infuriating, because if it didn't happen after however tf many felonies, then it's never going to happen

[-] endeavor@sopuli.xyz 13 points 1 month ago

Trumps deep into mock court listing his crimes and him being put against the wall territory.

[-] shaggyb@lemmy.world 63 points 1 month ago

Fucking DO IT ALREADY THEN

[-] Duamerthrax@lemmy.world 61 points 1 month ago

Do those "legal experts" have the ability to enforce the law?

[-] Krackalot@discuss.tchncs.de 53 points 1 month ago

I wish I could say this is a click bait title, but its more like the title was written based on the assumption no one will click to read the article. No where in there were there any legal experts(Lawyers, Judges or legal scholars). No where in there did anyone actually suggest he'd face any consequences for his actions. Total bs title intended to give a few people hope I guess. Not really sure what the thought process was. Probably wasn't one of those either.

I've heard that before and won't get my hopes up.

He has enough money to Stall out a court until he's long dead...

[-] Wazowski@lemmy.world 47 points 1 month ago

Give me a fucking break. If that cunt meets justice, it’ll happen on the street.

[-] Scotty_Trees@lemmy.world 37 points 1 month ago

Can I downvote this any harder? We've been hearing "prison time" for years, just dangling a carrot. I'm not even going to bother reading this.

[-] Default_Defect@midwest.social 33 points 1 month ago

Not gonna read this, if Trump was ever going to face consequences, it would have happened by now. The rapist is gonna die peacefully in his sleep eventually. There is no god.

[-] Gnugit@aussie.zone 33 points 1 month ago

I won't hold my breath..

[-] Randomgal@lemmy.ca 30 points 1 month ago

Trust me bro, just one more lawsuit and the Nazis are gone.

Everyone who still reads articles that say 'blah blah looking at, blah blah might be" and gets hopeful are morons. He will keep getting away with whatever he wants. These articles have been happening for 10 years now and nothing EVER HAPPENS.

[-] the_riviera_kid@lemmy.world 18 points 1 month ago

the only way trump will ever see justice is if he gets Luigied.

The only way that remotely happens is if the dems take congress in 2026 and impeach and remove him (they'd probably have to get vance too). Which seems highly unlikely and has a high risk of another jan 6 like event.

I'd like to believe it, really, but there is no way that he ever sees justice for his crimes. He'll die of a cheeseburger-related heart attack before that happens.

I'll believe it, when I see it.

For the past 8 years they've been saying he "may" do this, or he "may" get punished for that, and everyone twiddled their thumbs until morons elected him into office again, making it all impossible again

[-] BotsRuinedEverything@lemmy.world 24 points 1 month ago

Stfu click bait. Why would he suddenly start experiencing consequences?

Sounds good. But until he is marched into prison in a orange jumpsuit I’m not celebrating.

[-] kittenzrulz123 18 points 1 month ago

Some people commit a felony and get punished for four years or more, Trump commits 34 felonies and we get punished for four years (or more)

[-] tacosanonymous@lemm.ee 18 points 1 month ago

In and ideal world, sure.

But this article and the people who published it are deeply unserious.

[-] Phoenicianpirate@lemm.ee 16 points 1 month ago

I seriously, seriously doubt it. As much as the insiders all hate trump with an absolute vengeance, he is too goddamn useful for them to want to get rid of him.

Trump is a symptom of a much, much larger systemic issue that has been on slow burn for decades, but the thing that Trump does that no one else can do is have such a massive fanatical fanbase. They do not have any other person who can rile people up while also being an absolute moron who insults them at every turn and treats them worse than whatever shit he has them lick off his shoes.

If the bullet fired at him last year had hit him between the eyes and killed him before he hit the ground, it would not solve the problem, but it would have abso-fucking-lutely had a massive effect on everything. It would have hindered their ability to go forward with a lot of shit since his fanbase would have been heavily divided. Trump's attribute is that he is the glue that keeps their movement together, but not the actual mover of that movement. Trump doesn't have beliefs. He does not give a fuck about anything other than himself. He does not care about his children, grandchildren, wife, ex-wives/mistresses, his country, his friends (whom he does not have). He does not care at all about anything other than self-aggrandizement, enriching himself, and staying out of prison/legal punishment for his countless misdeeds.

[-] sexual_tomato@lemmy.dbzer0.com 15 points 1 month ago

I'll say what I've been saying for 9 years: I'll believe it when I see it.

[-] madame_gaymes@programming.dev 15 points 1 month ago

Nothing involving trump's face is uplifting

[-] TerranFenrir@lemmy.ca 15 points 1 month ago

Can we please keep depressing American politics out of "uplifting news"? I'm not subscribed to this community to see "Hitler definitely getting in biiiiig trouble" for the twenty seventh time.

[-] BlameTheAntifa@lemmy.world 13 points 1 month ago

A mountain of felonies, millions of civil rights violations, violent insurrection, and not only is he not currently in prison for his crimes…

[-] scbasteve7@lemm.ee 12 points 1 month ago

He may be doing illegal shit that people want to put a stop to, but half the government backs him completely, and blindly. And the other half is a bunch of spineless pussies who care more about their donors and their own optics than bettering the country. Nobody is gonna do anything about it

[-] Evil_Shrubbery@lemm.ee 12 points 1 month ago

Bit hard to be a legal expert from a foreign prison.

:(

[-] Bloomcole@lemmy.world 12 points 1 month ago

LOL
I've been hearing that since Trump 1.
Any day now.
