Order follows Pentagon’s announcement to remove 1,000 military members who openly identify as trans

US military commanders will be told to identify troops in their units who are transgender or have gender dysphoria, then send them to get medical checks in order to force them out of the service.

A senior defense official on Thursday laid out what could be a complicated and lengthy new process aimed at fulfilling Donald Trump’s directive to remove transgender service members from the US military despite years of service alongside all the other two million US troops.

Earlier this month, the Pentagon announced plans to remove in short order the 1,000 members of the military who openly identify as trans, and giving those who have yet to so identify openly 30 days to remove themselves.

Honestly why would anyone want to die for a country that doesn't give a shit about them?

[-] abdominable@lemm.ee 32 points 1 day ago

Because they are joining for a job, not to be patriotic. The U.S. military is the largest jobs program in the world. It's main selling point is to pull people out of poverty.

Nobody I know that joined did it to 'fight for their country'. They didn't swallow that bullshit until after getting in and realizing half the morons here will call them a hero for getting dressed in the morning.

"half the morons here will call them a hero for getting dressed in the morning." That sounds painfully accurate for the area I live.

P.S. Thanks for the genuine response.

You're wrong. Their country actively wants them dead. They do give a shit, just in the wrong way.

So you are unable to actually answer the question then?

%90 will never see combat, and get free Medical, Free College tuition, free/heavily subsidized housing, and ~$50-70k+ a year.

Thats the story they are told, a quick ask around at your local VA will tell you otherwise.

All part of the plan to get mass resignations of officers who might have a shred of decency (and be willing to disobey illegal orders).

So we're back onto Don't Ask Don't Tell, just with a slightly narrower scope (for now)

Just send everyone. How else would you know? I can't believe any one person has never experienced some sort of gender dysphoria in their lives.

I've never experienced any sort of gender dysphoria in my life. It's weird to assume that everyone has.

I think some folks interpret thoughts like "I wonder what its like to be insert gender here" as dysphoria. I don't think I would consider that myself but I can see why someone might.

For a lot of folks it's a genuinely rhetorical question with no thought or substance beyond the initial thought. But for some it's the beginning of an awakening, you just have to remember they did not live your life and you did not live thiers. Little details you would have never thought to consider or are unconcerned with may be a game changer for someone else.
