I made a hundred bucks. I didn't have to sleep in my car last night. I am still alive and warm. I ate a fast food hamburger. I had a great yoyo practice sesh. I saw the sun behind the clouds. There was a squirrel on the fence. I gave cats some scritches. I made it thru the night of active ideation. I took my pills as well as my estradiol shot. I felt genuine relief and a cosmic gratitude that my counselor is moving to colorado so he will be safe. I saw a robin on a roof peak in perfect silhouette. I remembered some good things and good times. My belly was full. I didn't faint again. I felt grateful for having some celebrex. I stood up for myself and a friend who was close. I did my best.
After @Lady Butterfly mentioned in passing that writing up a bit of history on a woman I used to answer another question here might be welcome, I started writing up histories of fascinating strong women in history. This week I put out the fifth in my "Kick-Ass Women from HIstory" series (and my personal favourite so far) and the reaction has really made my week already.
Who knew that being long-winded and prone to blather could be so much fun!?
Its neither long winded or blather! They're some of the most upvoted posts we've had and people are obviously really getting a lot out of them. Shining a light on ignored women is what this group is all about
I'm getting my hair done today! It's so scraggly at the ends I think he'll need to use gardening shears but I can't wait to see it done.
@ZDL@ttrpg.network has been doing some amazing posts on kick ass women through history and I've been gripped by each one. Absolutely GRIPPED.
I've losing access to academic journals soon so I've been bashing topics I'm interested in. I've nearly finished reading the stuff on childhood emotional abuse which has been really interesting
Hope it turns out well! Hair appointments can be a bit nerve wracking
A fresh look always feels great! I've seen those kick ass women posts too, absolutely great stuff. I hope you're able to cram in all the reading you can, or somehow save a copy of what you can't before you lose access to those journals! That is a really great resource to have available.
Can we get a link to those posts, please?
@CheeseToastie@lazysoci.al / @LadyButterfly@lemmy.world / @dandelion@lemmy.blahaj.zone: I don't know if Lemmy has pinned messages, but if it does, maybe we could provide a pinned message that links to all the "Kick-Ass Women from History" posts for ease of access?
Great idea! I'll get that sorted later today
Sure, if you click on @ZDL@ttrpg.network then go to her posts they all show
Whoops, mea culpa, I was under the impression there was a specific magazine for it. Thanks!
Haha np it's fine
I'm so grateful for the kindness of this community. It's so easy to fall into a habit of letting the worst version of ourselves have the reigns, it's so good to be in the company of those whose behavior reminds me to let the better versions of myself do the driving. Thanks again.
I have a pretty sarcastic and mean streak myself; but this community tends to bring out the better side of me, so yes, you're right.

Thanks Maeve, that's a really nice thing to say. And you're a valued part of it all 😊
You're welcome and thank you, too. It's great to have the extra support as the community is navigating proper care and assistance for our brother.
Finally starting to get over this guy
Thats great! It can be really rough getting over someone, heartbreak is really painful
Last night I picked up my partner at the airport, surprised them with flowers and special frozen desserts. It's always good to be reunited with a loved one 🥰
After having gotten my sleep on track, we had a community member in crises that completely disrupted my re-established pattern. Chores are still behind, and I woke up twice, briefly last night, then went back to sleep for several hours and had rem sleep. I'm still yawning but it was a victory. Got to spend time actually giving my fur baby some attention.
Eta: I feel like every day is a good day, but my perspective may go sideways due to challenges that are outside of my comfort zone. I'm trying to reframe these challenges as "free mental/spiritual/ intellectual/your word voice workouts. I'm not saying they're easy. I'm saying I can choose to look at it as opportunities to grow.
So far everything in the garden that I've planted this year is doing well! I've got tomatoes, strawberries, some raspberry canes, and green onions and chives growing happily. :)
Wow that's quite a harvest! You've done really well there. Has it been a lot of work?
I plant small amounts of each one so it's manageable! It's a lot of work a couple of times a year when you're getting it all set up and then harvesting and cleaning it out, but most of the time plants are just out there growing their best life.
That's a good way of doing it, all in one go and then not for a while. You've been really sensible
I miss gardening. A few pots in the balcony just doesn't cut it. 😞
