Invasive (lemmy.world)

Holy hell Reddit is invasive. Got banned a few years ago. Went to make a new account and within a day it was banned. New email, new computer... how the hell do they have way too much information on you? It's actually kinda scary how insidious those fuckers are.

The answer is Google.

Reddit has the Google login integration and advertiser id.

Your Gmail account and Google advertising id has de-anonymized you

Thank you for actually answering the question. The rest of these kids sound like they belong on Reddit.

Yeah I’m sorry that some people can’t support the discourse

Yeah, it's the "other people" at fault here, and not the OP telling people to kill themselves because he didn't like their reply

[-] wokehobbit@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Who the hell is telling people to kill themselves? Wtf is wrong with you dude

[-] PseudoSpock@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 year ago

Not enough people, apparently.

Well I’m not monitoring their behaviour either, I just wish people could have a little more empathy.

Times are tough for everyone.

Often people giving you a hard time are HAVING a hard time. It’s not an excuse, it’s just unfortunate

There aren't any Reditors around here. It's the Fediverse.

No more inane infinite cascading reply chains any more thankfully.

That is helpful to know. Probably why I haent been banned as I use reddit on web only, ditched the Android reddit crapplication

[-] RIP_Cheems@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

So that's why when I created a new account it still banned me.

Same house? Your public IP might be logged as a red flag.

Different state lol. Reddit is trash

[-] DetectiveKakuna@lemmy.world 33 points 1 year ago

Sounds much more likely that you got banned again for breaking ToS and didn't learn your lesson from the first time lol

100% this. OP went right back in with the same pudgey 4chan frequenter bullshit that got them banned last time, got banned, and is now over here crying about it. What a loser.

Banned IP for me. I made a lot of throw-away accounts to answer simple questions and most where shadowbanned (maybe because I was using a VPN).

Interestingly I used to mod a subreddit, which shut down when the third party app controversy came to light in protest. I went to see if it ever reopened, and it's no longer even in existence as a Google search result. Just gone.
