Honestly it feels almost dangerous to call the people in the bottom photo idiots. They know exactly what they’re fucking doing and the cruelty and power are the entire fucking point. This is the comment I came here to make! The biggest difference between us and Idiocracy is that they listened and let the smart person take control in the movie. There's no hope of that now.
They were pretty much ready to execute that smart guy because the water didn't immediately grow massive crops. Had the others got distracted just a few minutes longer before broadcasting the growth live it may have been too late.
