That’s always been the big lie, that the right doesn’t believe in climate change. They believe in it, and they plan on making a whole lot of money off of it.
Yeah, strategically having a whole new sea route to China is great. And they think that the downsides of climate change are going to be manageable (in that, they'll be fine. The rest of us won't be tho).
And for that one brief moment in time they will have maximized all value for their shareholders.
What he's talking about, though his handlers may not have explained it to him yet, is an alliance with Russia to control the entire northern tier.
He doesn't give a shit about climate change; he's going to be dead. He cares about their mineral resources and their strategic location in the event of a war which involves the Arctic. Which he's likely to be the one to start.
