Ah, I see.

It just feels like there's already quite a few of them: !fediverse@lemmy.world, !fediverse@lemmy.ml, !fediverse@lemmy.zip, !fediverse@discuss.online, !fediverse@hilariouschaos.com, and now this one !fediverse@piefed.social.

I saw your comment about the lemmy.zip mods though, so I understand you moving away from that as well.

Is this community thought of as an alternative to !fediverse@lemmy.world (too big) and !fediverse@lemmy.ml (too authoritarian)?

I think !fediversenews@piefed.social is indeed made to be more news oriented than the other existing Fediverse communities, so in that sense I think they can co-exist well. Piefed users don't mind anyway, we have feeds. ;)

@atomicpoet@piefed.social created and moderates !fediversenews@piefed.social by the way, I don't really have much to do with it. :)

Yes, that's the idea!
