They also instituted a site-wide ban against Luigi supporters... Ask me how I know.

[-] pleasegoaway@lemm.ee 31 points 2 weeks ago

Yeah when I started getting suspended for simply upvoting Luigi comments, I realized it was time to leave.

I deleted my 13 year old high karma account. And now I’m adjusting to being a new Lemmy user.

[-] Photuris@lemmy.ml 14 points 2 weeks ago

I had so much karma.

Too bad I couldn’t cash it out for nickels or something.

[-] barneypiccolo@lemm.ee 5 points 2 weeks ago

I was close to a million karma when they permabanned me after 12 years. I would have reached a million this year. People like us, with years of steady posting and high karma, built Reddit, and suddenly we're all declared troublemakers, and kicked out, for doing what Reddit was created for - having lively discussions about controversial topics.

Kind of a microcosm of what's happening to other demographic groups in America, and will be happening with even more in the future. The administration will declare that any group they don't like are "Terrorists," and willnbe sent to thebEl Salvador torture prison with nonduebprocess at all.

I mearly suggested that there should be more stepping on toes, on a post about a news article about Republican toes being stepped on by judges, and they sent me a warning that "I was advocating for violence". Like, no, my sweet summer child, if I was advocating for violence, my rhetoric would be more.... violent.

Edit: Decided right then and there I was done splitting my time between reddit and the fediverse.

I tried to appeal, because sure.. if a community has rules, and I break them, I can own that. But the post had already been "removed by moderator" so I couldn't even see what it said. It wasn't even in my post history. I asked "The offending post has been removed, is there a way to see it so I can address the issue regarding my ban? I'm willing to admit when I'm wrong." I've been banned before, I know how it goes.

Response: "Your appeal has been denied." End of story. Not even a fair chance at appeal. Nothing I would have said would have mattered, because it was pro-Luigi.

It's okay though, Reddit will be the next Twitter/X in a few months. Nothing of value will be lost.

I would love to see exactly the elon posts that got banned, because that's when you know you struck gold

[-] SCTV@lemm.ee 53 points 2 weeks ago

THIS is why I finally left Reddit. Happy to be here!

[-] CheeseToastie@lazysoci.al 10 points 2 weeks ago

Hey mate! It's a really nice place to hang out. It's quieter, but better quality and I've barely seen nastiness or drama

[-] SCTV@lemm.ee 10 points 2 weeks ago

Only thing I’m missing is more active niche subs, but hey, gotta start somewhere. Blue Sky over Twitter, Lemm.ee over Reddit.

[-] CheeseToastie@lazysoci.al 7 points 2 weeks ago

Yep more and more people will defect from reddit. Half the posters there are bots anyway

[-] Coelacanth@feddit.nu 8 points 2 weeks ago

Welcome! We're glad to have you! Let us know if you need help getting oriented.

[-] phoenixarise@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago

Me, too. Welcome! You’ll like it here.

[-] gndagreborn@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago

Amen amen, and an extra holy amen for good measure.

Amen, amen, add some ramen, and season to taste.

[-] b161 4 points 2 weeks ago

Welcome to the new old web.

[-] SirMaple__@lemmy.ca 47 points 2 weeks ago
[-] nl4real@lemmy.world 9 points 2 weeks ago

Social Media is designed to be addictive. That said, isn't the user base mostly bots at this point?

[-] SeeMarkFly@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 weeks ago

Troll farms and A.I. and bots, OH MY! We'll never get to the Emerald City this way.

[-] 4shtonButcher@discuss.tchncs.de 8 points 2 weeks ago

I have several niche interests which are discussed heavily on the respective subreddits but basically don't exist on Lemmy. I use Lemmy far more than Reddit by now but I cannot do without Reddit. I am a lot better at avoiding Meta services.

[-] chatokun@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 2 weeks ago

In addition there are unfortunately a lot of solutions on there. I've uninstalled reddit a long time ago and don't browse/scroll it, but for specific topics and especially IT stuff I sometimes find solutions there. I may find em on stack exchange or any of the other various sites, including company forums, but sometimes Reddit will have the right solution. I'd rather it not since it seems to perform even worse these days, but it's the unfortunate truth

[-] muusemuuse@lemm.ee 3 points 2 weeks ago

Because Reddit killed forums and this is the closest thing we have left.

[-] seeigel@feddit.org 1 points 2 weeks ago

Because people as a group are dumb. You know what the fascists can do when people stay on reddit instead of moving to lemmy.

[-] taco@piefed.social 37 points 2 weeks ago

Musk has also called it "insane" that some subreddits had banned the ability to post links to X.

Actually, clicking through to the images that elon was replying to, the user had commented that elon isn't a nazi and didn't do a nazi salute. I'm choosing to interpret this as the part that elon was calling insane, not the banning.

Can we take a moment to note what percentage of pics are of this guy steeping his fingers? It’s too flattering, given the destructive role he’s taken on.

He’s either hopping around dressed like a mall teenager from the 1990s, wielding a chainsaw dressed like a mall teenager from the 1990s, or straight faced with steepled fingers.

What should be posted is him Seig heiling or meme style imagery comparing his plasticine face with Mark Zuckerberg. That’s it.

[-] ghostlychonk@lemm.ee 1 points 2 weeks ago

He also does not know how to wear a hat judging by the photo.

[-] zephorah@lemm.ee 3 points 2 weeks ago

Elon is babying the hair plugs. Hats that press down on hair plugs are contraindicated. He could not, as an example, wear a knit beanie tight across his head.

[-] weremacaque@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

I guess every way to treat baldness is really inconvenient. I’d rather just give up and shave my head than be forced to take a bunch of meds or wear hats weirdly to keep my fake hair safe. (I’m saying this as someone who has so many bald family members that I think it’s only a matter of time for me)

Question: What's the difference between a Tesla and an upright vacuum cleaner? Answer: The position of the dirt-bag.

Porsche: FAST . . .Ferrari: FASTER . . . . . .Tesla: FASCIST

[-] Contemporarium@lemm.ee 17 points 2 weeks ago

Lol he’s such a fucking pussy I don’t get it

[-] Enzy@lemm.ee 14 points 2 weeks ago

Surprised my account wasn't banned but warned.

Anyway, deleted that garbage.

[-] whoisearth@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 weeks ago

Amen doing mine still too with redact. 15 years. I joined them with the digg exodus.

[-] fox2263@lemmy.world 11 points 2 weeks ago

This is that freedom of speech he keeps talking about right?

[-] exixx@lemmy.world 7 points 2 weeks ago

Won’t someone rid me of this meddlesome South African?

[-] Trihilis@ani.social 4 points 2 weeks ago

And yet people post on that shithole with so many great alternatives that aren't owned by one person or centralised.
