If I was Zelensky, I'd probably distrust any US intelligence going forward anyway. Cross-validate US intelligence against that of European intelligence while tracking Russian equipment movement during the ceasefire, ready to unleash a simultaneous strike against everything within reach the moment Russia breaches the agreement.

[-] Strider@lemmy.world 3 points 19 hours ago

Always has, guaranteed.

[-] yesman@lemmy.world 72 points 21 hours ago

The US will “immediately lift the pause on intelligence sharing and resume security assistance to Ukraine,” it says.

The only thing that matters. Great news!

[-] LucidNightmare@lemm.ee 9 points 11 hours ago

Have you seen the “leadership” here in the US? I’d say that’s pretty suspicious news if anything, and would consider it dangerous and traitorous.

[-] CanadaGeese@lemmy.zip 68 points 21 hours ago

Til russia inevitably breaks the ceasefire and they cut off the intelligence again.

[-] wjrii@lemmy.world 37 points 21 hours ago

I mean, it's definitely certainly 100% true that when Russia breaks the ceasefire it will be Zelenskyy's fault, personally, so the US will have no choice.

It's true. Agent Orange and Couchfucker told me so.

[-] Hello_there@fedia.io 41 points 21 hours ago

How does this help Russia? That's the only question to ask about US agreements at this point.

[-] Marafon@sh.itjust.works 65 points 21 hours ago

A tactical pause to regroup and rearm.

[-] SarcasticMan@lemmy.world 35 points 21 hours ago

This. My guess is they will use about 20 days of it to regroup and bring in new meat and materials. Then they will start probing Ukrainian lines with little skirmishes in the hopes Ukraine shoots back. When they shoot back Moscow will cry out "They broke the ceasefire!" And the war is back on the menu boys. The traitors in Washington will stop giving the out-of-date intel they will be giving during the ceasefire and cry about how Ukraine can't be trusted because it broke the ceasefire.

It doesn't take a John "Hannibal" Smith to suss out this one.

[-] AllYourSmurf@lemmy.world 5 points 21 hours ago

@remindme@mstdn.social 30 days

[-] SarcasticMan@lemmy.world 3 points 19 hours ago

Now you got me thinking maybe you do need a John "Hannibal" Smith to suss this one out lol if I am wrong I will quit drinking lol I quit drinking 4 years ago but I will quit again that's how sure I am lol

[-] remindme@mstdn.social 2 points 21 hours ago

@AllYourSmurf Ok, I will remind you on Thursday Apr 10, 2025 at 7:34 PM UTC.

[-] Questy@lemmy.world 16 points 21 hours ago

This is true, but currently that is also much needed for the Ukrainian forces as well. Time is needed to consolidate after the withdrawal from Kursk and to get more European integration up and running.

[-] dogslayeggs@lemmy.world 16 points 20 hours ago

It sets up Russia for accusing Ukraine of breaking the cease fire, allowing Trump to end all sanctions on Russia, sanction Ukraine, end all support to Ukraine, and possibly aid Russia in their "counter-offensive."

It also allows Russia time and security to safely move their troops to more strategic locations instead of being bogged down in bad positions.

[-] comador@lemmy.world 46 points 22 hours ago

Now will Russia accept a 30 Day cease fire is another question.

[-] mrsjmccrimmon@feddit.uk 69 points 22 hours ago

Accept it? Yes. Blatantly break it straight away? Also yes.

[-] xmunk@sh.itjust.works 21 points 20 hours ago

Not quite, take a few days to make vital troop movements and then use a false flag to break the ceasefire while giving Trump coverage to be outraged that Ukraine would dare make such an obviously not them act of aggression to breech the ceasefire.

These people are dumb and uncreative and we'll see exactly the same tactics used against Gaza - overt aggression from the aggressor while they claim they're just responding to threats.

[-] empireOfLove2@lemmy.dbzer0.com 28 points 20 hours ago* (last edited 15 hours ago)

How long before Trump also says "ok therr is ceasefire, that means wars over, i win! we can lift all sanctions on Russia effective immediately"?

[-] schema@lemmy.world 5 points 11 hours ago

He'll probably ask for the peace nobel prize as well.

[-] Yawweee877h444@lemmy.world 8 points 17 hours ago

Ugh. I hate how real that feels, and how zero surprise we'll feel when it happens.

[-] Lemmist@lemm.ee 37 points 22 hours ago* (last edited 22 hours ago)

Facepalm. The main problem is not in Kyiv. Not even in Washington. It is in Moskow.

[-] Rade0nfighter@lemmy.world 12 points 19 hours ago* (last edited 19 hours ago)

All part of Putin’s plan.

There will be some terms that Russia wants “at the last minute” that Trump will insist on otherwise he’ll pull the rug again even worse.

No need for a false flag operation, though that could be a nice next play for the aggressors. Heck that could even be an excuse for not only the US dropping support for Ukraine but completely switching sides and providing support for Russia!

I really hope Europe pulls its finger out, as they have been promising. US will be a bad partner for the next four years. And then again when Trump jr. runs next.

[-] esc27@lemmy.world 8 points 20 hours ago

I hate that Ukraine lost so much and that Russia will get away with this, but looking at it another way, Ukraine held on, stopped Russia from taking their whole country, and forced a ceasefire. That's amazing and few thought it possible just a few years ago.

[-] martin4598@lemm.ee 8 points 19 hours ago

Russia will not stop there, and the US provide absolutely no guarantee against that.

[-] DioEgizio@lemm.ee 6 points 20 hours ago

Will Russia actually accept a ceasefire? Cuz I really think they'll break it in record times if they even accept it

[-] Skydancer@pawb.social 4 points 17 hours ago

Israel's record on that one is going to be tough to beat.

[-] mrmule@lemmy.world 4 points 20 hours ago

Russian false flag operation incoming

[-] martin4598@lemm.ee 3 points 19 hours ago

The US force Ukraine to stop fighting, prey upon their riches, and provides absoljtely NO security. So, if Russia wants to attack again in 2 weeks, 2 monthes, 2 years, Ukraine is on its own. Weird way to "end a war".

[-] InverseNurse@lemm.ee 3 points 21 hours ago

About the only thing positive this administration has done thus far.

[-] Little8Lost@lemmy.world 1 points 10 hours ago

i dont think its really positive because its likely used to harm ukraine. Like Russia could simply break it or Trump (& Musk?) could use that as an argument to stop support or something

Maybe it is indeed positive, but its to early to tell

[-] sirico@feddit.uk 2 points 20 hours ago

Balls moreso in Russia's court, let's see how we're convinced it's not
