"Maybe in the DOGE boys' video game simulations, it doesn't matter if they lay off hundreds of staff from the FAA. In the real world, however, it will make flying less safe," said Public Citizen's Robert Weissman.

"Next airline disaster"? Why did the last few not count?

[-] N0body@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 points 5 days ago

They mean the next one after the latest one and possibly the one after that. The other ones will be caused by planned greater fuckups in the future.

Friends don’t let friends fly when air traffic control towers aren’t properly staffed and supported. It is just too dangerous now.

[-] HertzDentalBar 1 points 1 day ago

Driving is far more dangerous, same with any other mode of transport.

[-] TheSambassador@lemmy.world 1 points 5 days ago

Real question, how do you get the data to make this judgement? How much more dangerous is it, and what's the threshold when the danger chance is negligible enough?

I fly back out from the USA in two weeks

and make flight delays more and reduce any gains airports that expanded had gotten. It should not be but it taking longer is going to anger folks more I bet.

Warning DOGE does nothing. Breaking things and causing death is part of the plan. Oust the Nazis.

[-] TomMasz@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago

DOGE will fire the watchdog.

Hey maybe the next airplane disaster can happen to air force one.

I’m anti-DOGE and anti-Trump, but I’m not a fan of weaponizing disinformation.

It’s not that there’s more plane crashes now. The news is just covering them more.

[-] HubertManne@moist.catsweat.com 2 points 4 days ago

of course not. it will take some time for the effects to kick in in that regard. we won't know for years.

[-] surph_ninja@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago

Absolutely. We’re going to suffer the effects of Trump’s shit show for some time. But it’s disinformation to say imply that’s why we’re seeing these plane crashes now.

[-] HubertManne@moist.catsweat.com 2 points 4 days ago

Good thing both the original post article title and content do not do that then. most likely implies the future and that is what the article talks about. Nice to know about the unrelated concern about disinformation though.

[-] surph_ninja@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago

Oh man. No. Increased media focus on a particular issue to manufacture concern is nothing new, and not at all unrelated.

You should read Manufacturing Consent.

This is a pretty big issue. I don't think its an unwarranted level of focus. Im not sure if its on this thread or elsewhere but I have mentioned a bigger issue for folks is airport delays which is actually whats going to piss people off more around the cuts.

[-] surph_ninja@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago

There’s a lot implying that the crashes being covered are being caused by the Trump cuts, and that’s simply not true (yet).

[-] HubertManne@moist.catsweat.com 1 points 4 days ago

are we reading the same article because im not seeing that?
