This is the governments proof that there's not an unemployment issue.

[-] Snapz@lemmy.world 42 points 2 days ago

Never actually left. It was a facade for the news cycle like the rest of it, like TikTok.

  1. Create fake problem

  2. Nothing changes

  3. Declare victory over the problem that didn't exist

  4. Let media fight over it

  5. Do more quietly, actually horrible things in the background while they yell at the nothing

  6. Create a new fake problem

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago

I'm not why you consider exposing members of the government as being extremely racist to be a facade or a fake problem. I think it's a real problem that people should be pretty fucking aware of. Especially any person who might be a subject of that racism.

Hiding your head in the sand and pretending this didn't happen doesn't seem especially helpful to any possible victims of this person.

[-] Snapz@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago

The fake problem is this kid "resigning" - don't just assume and go 1000% hard based on your false assumption. Ask a question and clarify if you need, try to assume better intentions of people on Lemmy, unless something is very obvious.

The news is spending breath talking about this kid, him "resigning", music holding a "poll" that pings his bots to consent, Vance and trump's cosigning, Vance's wife being Indian... Etc etc.... they did that so the news STOPPED talking about the actual horror that you mentioned, these kids are downloading the whole of OPM employee data, likely including PII and PHI, and grabbing other DBs that will intentionally (or unintentionally through incompetence) leak and likely cost lives.

Flooding the zone and trying to get the zeitgeist to follow the bouncing ball

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Considering it took you 10 hours to respond, I don't know that asking a question and expecting a clarification would have been especially prudent.

[-] 0ops@lemm.ee 4 points 22 hours ago

I appreciate what you do for the fediverse, but some of us have other responsibilities, some of us take breaks, some of us sleep, etc...

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 1 points 22 hours ago

And that’s fine. But then to expect me to ask them a question when I won’t get it timely answer is a little much. Remember that they put this on me.

[-] Snapz@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

Didn't know you had a publication deadline. My points stand.

The false urgency was informed by your misunderstanding and associated upset. So maybe reflect on that. Okay... Cool

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

I don't see a point in asking a question in a discussion forum if the answer takes half a day to get to me. This isn't Quora.

[-] Rooskie91@discuss.online 143 points 2 days ago

Lol they resigned out of shame and Elon was like "No dude, we actually like the views you have"

[-] benignintervention@lemmy.world 55 points 2 days ago

I'm positive that's the point. "Say any inflammatory shit you want, we'll hire you," solely to promote people being more inflammatory

[-] webghost0101@sopuli.xyz 21 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

They hired Daniel Penny who chocked and killed a homeless mentally ill black man.

He was cleared in court on the defense of protecting others but the victim had not used violence, they were erratic and appeared threatening, and had been involved in fist fights in the past (which is irrelevant in the present). Its Penny who started a physical attack and ended that mans life.

Even with the most extreme benefit of doubt where Penny really is a good samaritan. Hiring him in the context of this political collapse is a clear sign and cannot be misread.

Killing undesirables gets rewarded.

[-] pivot_root@lemmy.world 56 points 2 days ago

My takeaway from this is that the entire thing was performative.

The racist shit keeps unfettered access to government information without a security clearance (and the 25 year old, too), Trump and Co spin a narrative of "the past is the past, 'mistakes' should be forgiven and forgotten," and nobody is held accountable for anything. Sounds about right.

[-] TimLovesTech@badatbeing.social 23 points 2 days ago

But only if you're white/"conservative", everyone else needs to be held accountable and punished to the full extent of the law.

[-] pivot_root@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago

Slight correction: ~~to~~ beyond the full extent of the law.

[-] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago

May not even apply to white conservatives that upheld the law and investigated donvict and/or the J6 terrorists.

[-] TimLovesTech@badatbeing.social 2 points 22 hours ago

Silly goose, investigating the Dear Leader made them RINOs, which we all know is the same as the radical "Trump hating" Left.

[-] teawrecks@sopuli.xyz 63 points 2 days ago

They're acting like he said these things 10 years ago when he was a stupid kid, and has apologized since then.

He said it 5 months ago, and he tried deleting them so he didn't get caught, not out of shame or apology.

They know this, they just don't care anymore. I'm surprised they made any statements at all.

[-] treadful@lemmy.zip 67 points 2 days ago

“For the sake of both of our kids? Grow up,” he replied. “Racist trolls on the internet, while offensive, don’t threaten my kids. You know what does? A culture that denies grace to people who make mistakes. A culture that encourages congressmen to act like whiny children.”

What a weird distorted way of thinking.

[-] Naich@lemmings.world 51 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

A white man doesn't feel threatened by racism, so it's fine. Sums it all up really.

[-] teawrecks@sopuli.xyz 13 points 2 days ago

His kids are apparently half Indian, which was why he said that.

[-] Naich@lemmings.world 24 points 2 days ago

That's even fucking worse. Not even having any empathy with your own kids. No wonder they all hate him.

[-] TimLovesTech@badatbeing.social 12 points 2 days ago

Yeah, had to throw his kids and wife under the bus of racism so that Elon wouldn't get mad. Poor JD ran as #2 and has been regulated to distant #3 already.

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

You're talking about the guy who, during the election, said "obviously she's not white" about his wife out loud in front of cameras and on purpose.

[-] jballs@sh.itjust.works 9 points 2 days ago

Following the Trump playbook of always attack and never defend or apologize. The dude literally posted racist shit in September and they're acting like it was ancient history of something the guy posted decades ago.

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

Racist trolls on the internet have literally threatened my kid. On a one-to-one level.

[-] tired_n_bored@lemmy.world 45 points 2 days ago

Am I the only one who feels it's impossible to stop these people with voting and information campaigns? I feel the urge to make Nazis afraid again.

[-] floofloof@lemmy.ca 24 points 2 days ago

The media and the Democratic Party will be the last ones to admit the Nazi takeover has gone too far to be corrected through conventional means. But lots of people feel like you do. Active resistance of many kinds is needed.

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago

Voting will not stop anything in America now that it is a one-party state.

A lot of people still think Republicans, who now control all three branches of government and have made it clear that they do not care about the law, will give up power willingly. I really do not know why they think so.

[-] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 18 points 2 days ago

Duh, his daddy sieg heil'ed for all the world to see.

[-] AbidanYre@lemmy.world 31 points 2 days ago

This just makes Elon seem desperate.

He had to go beg some 20-something cretin to come back to work for him.

[-] bilb@lem.monster 35 points 2 days ago

I don't think it's that at all. I think it's more to signal that it's okay to be a racist piece of shit.

[-] AbidanYre@lemmy.world 14 points 2 days ago

I get why he's doing it, I'm just saying it's pathetic on musk's part. The kid quit and Elon begged him to come back.

Other than being a shameless shitstain there's nothing special or unique about him compared to thousands of others his age

[-] TimLovesTech@badatbeing.social 10 points 2 days ago

JD did the first post saying that being a racist piece of shit shouldn't ruin the rest of your life. Which is especially sad because this kids racist rant was about violence against people from India should be ok (and his wife is Indian along with his kids).

Then the media asked Trump who of course pretended to know nothing and said if JD said he should have it back he should. Then Elon posted on his own platform that the kid was coming back.

[-] Clent@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 2 days ago

Not ok, a requirement.

[-] tastysaganaki@reddthat.com 8 points 2 days ago

I agree. From the Nazi salute to this, Musk is making it maddeningly clear that he is as racist and bigoted as we imagine, and wants to invite his Nazi friends to join in.

[-] otter@lemmy.dbzer0.com 16 points 2 days ago

Did they really promote the dude, what timeline is this.

[-] otter@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 2 days ago

Give it a sec.

[-] ryedaft@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 days ago

Those racist posts were several months ago

[-] Sparkega@sh.itjust.works 36 points 2 days ago

So he definitely still has those views.

[-] WrenFeathers@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago

I’m pretty sure that the passage of time doesn’t lessen the severity of racist remarks.

Yeah, but putting a /s automatically makes anything unfunny. I figured the mention of months made it obviously sarcasm. I was trying for a joke about how these were comments from his youth and now that he's in his early twenties he has obviously grown and changed since then.

Just to be clear all of Musk's lackeys are terrible people. Here's another one. Even more concerning to be honest.
