I've been using Material Files for years now, just to give another FOSS alternative that works very well.

Material files has been my favorite since before I even knew it was open source. Fantastic file manager

The built in ftp server is incredibly useful too

Already use it and recommend it. Simple and light. In fact, go for the entire ecosystem if you need ligh weight alternatives to GAPPS

I would love a FOSS solution that can compete with X-plore but I haven't found anything that can touch it. MiX is ok for basic stuff but not on the same level.

For a moment I got that and material files mixed up... Since I'm in the fossify ecosystem with messaging, camera, and calling, I might end up trying that to see if I like it better than material files.

Edit:

Forgot I am also using their calendar app... Hope these apps don't end up going to shit or I will have a long journey switching over, as a lazy enough person.

Edit Edit:

So, found what I think is their page since I wasn't sure if the f-Droid version was up to date and 10 months old for an app seems like a long time between updates to me. Willing to try it, though, and hope nothing happens.

Yeah, these Fossify apps are forks of a previously open set of apps where the original developer did something that is generally frowned upon (i don't remember the details) and don't seem to have been given the attention I think they need since. It's unfortunate. I'll have to give the Material Files app a look and see if it's better.

I've been using Amaze for quite a long time and found it works well.

@Sunshine I tried all mentioned Alternatives. None of them has an Option to access my local NAS over an IP-Adress (Samba-Share). Did I missed it or do they all lack of this Option? Today I use CxFileExolorer. #Android #Filemanager

Material files is open source and has the option to add network shares including samba.

@Ghoelian This one does it. Thanks for this hint! ๐Ÿ‘

I do this with Amaze. Tap the plus floating action button in the bottom right corner, choose Cloud Connection, then SMB Connection.

For Android, e.g. Ghost Commander and Material Files can access SAMBA / Windows shared folders.
