So. This morning we find out that the awesome manager will no longer be leading our team.

As I mentioned a bit earlier today, she's the main reason I've stuck it out.

Let's see where the new year will lead. Probably out of this place.

This is it. One more day between me and holiday (except for whatever little bits I will inevitably need to finish off in the morning.

Yyyeeeeaaaah...

Have you ever seen a more majestic breakfast? 240g steak, 1 avocado, one smallish zucchini, 200g mushroom, two runny yolk eggs. Butter, salt, pepper. And now I won't eat until tomorrow! I also won't get hungry til then either

spoiler

Oh noes ... Came home a bit early so I could regroup and finish off the years tasks quietly. 20 min nap on couch became 2 hour DEEEP sleep with random nightmares and now my neck is cricked and I am discombobulated.

Yep. That was 2024 in a nutshell

I'm progressing to the next stage with this job. I don't know if it's what I want to do but if I got an offer I feel like I shouldn't knock it back. I just don't want to end up in a similar situation where I'm out in a year's time because it didn't work out

I regret getting in contact with my Aunty to settle things.

She tells people that Iโ€™m the nice one Iโ€™m the family but I just choose not to get into conflicts.

She texts me this.

โ€œI havenโ€™t got any replies to my emails. You better tell your cousins to hurry up to have settlement by blah blah dateโ€

Dunno if Iโ€™m reading into too much but it does t sound very nice and feels like sheโ€™s pressuring me to rush them.

Who's an idiot who thought it'd be overcast and left their bedroom blinds partly open and window wide open. No prizes for guessing.

I am being taught over and over again THOU SHALT ALWAYS LEAVE THE BLINDS DOWN AND WINDOWS CLOSED before leaving for work. No exemptions. Boiling.

Met up with some old colleagues which was nice - kind of really tied a neat bow on that chapter, one year on - now to catch up on 2.5 hrs of work and call it a day.

The cat is mad at me because there's cream in the fridge and it's not all in his belly (just some). He's given up yelling at the fridge and is now glaring at me, and occasionally mixing it up with looking very sad and lean.

So today i mostly worked like a dog. My boss admitted to faffing a little too much today and didnโ€™t as much done as she should have.

Hopefully this earns me a couple of early work finishes though tomorrow I have a work function at the end, I really hate that keeping us at work later to do these functions.

Dinner out, first time in ages. Little Mexico in Berwick. Nice enough, kinda lacking in spice levels but that's probably more on me.

Moving ramblings (kinda want a whinge, feel free to swipe past)

To be honest I can't be bothered and don't have the energy to pack. Emotional energy mainly. I've got so much to do, and my childish mind just keeps reverting to "TO HARD. HIDE UNDER PILLOW TIL IT GOES AWAY", which I'll admit is beneficial in the short term, but I am moving TO.MOR.ROW and have only taken over 2 boxes and a bag of loose stuff

I don't have to return the keys until Friday, but I don't have a way to get back on Thursday or Friday besides the bus, so catching 3 buses or a bus and 2 trains just isn't practical with boxes and bags. I'm pretty sure only a small removalist van was booked (I didn't organise it), so while they probably can take a couple of boxes, the rest of my stuff will just have to make do with a few car trips

Considering I'm going to be moving again sometime between late next year and the end of 2026, it's looking kind of tempting to donate half my shit to the salvos and live like a nomad by necessity. But having done that, I do know that it's a depressing way of living, and you just amass new shit to fill the space anyway

What sort of buffoon tries to sell a house with neither stove nor oven? Wonder what other surprises lurk in this one?

Gosh the internal review process for traffic fines is such a crock of shit.

I'm challenging a red light camera fine as I think it was incorrectly issued - my car crossed the stop line when the light was yellow, then it turned red and the cameras went off. You have to cross the stop line after the light has turned red to commit the offence (at least that's my reading of the law). Wrote a detailed review application with reasons, my recollection of the situation, referring to the photo evidence you can access etc, all I got back is "we are satisfied the offence was committed". That's it. Pay up or go to court.

I'm in this crap position of having only my recollection of the situation to rely on. I can't prove my car was in the intersection when the light was still yellow outside of pointing to the police photo which shows exactly this. But that wasn't good enough for the review, so it's probably not good enough for court either. It's a really expensive fine too. Feels like guilty until proven innocent rather than the other way around.

I've been much more careful since this fine, the light goes yellow I'm stopping. I don't trust those fixed cameras one bit.
