As an arachnophobe, the crabs are fucking brilliant. I’m now thinking I need a crabs mod for by3
i get shudders down my spine when i hear a long drawn out meowing sound now. it indicates a ~~giant spider~~ cat.jpg leaping an extreme distance to oneshot you on impact
it also makes the game harder: i can't differenciate the low hp and heavy hitter cats well. Did the explosives snuff them all out or are they just standing still, ready to strike? You don't know, its still the same jpg.
Oh, the big ones and the small ones can't be distinguished from one another? That's not ideal.
Though I can tell you from the time I spend in the game, even when you use the original model of those creatures, it's hard to gauge if they are dead or not. I have definitely spend lots of time standing on rock, shooting frantically at something that turned out to be a corpse lateron.
fortunately once you are supposed to be expanding to areas with hyper boss level spiders you should have strong weapons like the explosive rebar and scatter nobelisk + a jetpack with good fuel
i usually shoot them more and if they make no more sound they are ded
