The SCOTUS immunity decision will echo even more
It's the end of the Republic.
I mean it's not hard to know what happens when accountability isn't a thing anymore.
Spoiler Alert: everything turns to shit.
Why should we obey laws if our leader is a convicted felon who gets to bypass the punishment phase? Why should we ever respond to a jury summons for a sham justice system? Why should we pay taxes when our leader is a tax cheat?
Nothing matters now.
Yup. Things will be different from now on.
No. It has already been forgotten.
Just look at how many idiots (including around here...) keep insisting that the US Military will stand up against trump when he decides he wants a third term or some other complete shitting on of democracy.
We already went through this. But that would involve people remembering the Heroic Men And Women In Green sitting on their hands waiting to see how the POTUS trying to lynch the VPOTUS and murder Congress would play out.
Lol if
Heads up: that only makes any sense if the person you are replying to said the word "if" anywhere in their post. Rather than "when".
You know what yeah, I've got no idea why I imagined the "when" to be an "if"
Probably wishful thinking
It sets the tone for the remainder of the Republic. Perhaps a ruling as significant in outcome as the result of the Civil War.
Treason isn't a criminal activity.
Yeah, no kidding. Thanks to milquetoast "centrists" and the rabid right wing...
Yeah, but not in the way it seems. There will be no absence of "accountability" there will be "accountability" it just will be Republican lead investigations lying about 2020 and arresting Democrats on false charges of "stealing" that election. They've already said that is the intention. They will not stop crying about 2020 and will use it as an excuse to go full authoritarian on their opposition.
I despise Trump for just about everything, and my opinion goes back to the ‘80s. This is gonna piss a lot of people off, but Bill Clinton has a lot to do with this shitshow. While Ken Starr was an absolute tool for trying to get him for anything, Clinton getting up in front of everyone and committing perjury with zero remorse and then getting reelected anyway, showed that America (or at least the voters) has degenerated way too far from moral integrity (history of slavery notwithstanding).
Politicians lie. That’s a given. No way you reward them for their behavior.
Well done, you managed to find a way to blame a Democrat for this. Very helpful.
Actually, I blamed American voters for selling out over a lack of integrity.
This is a failure of the government to stop Trump's dad in the 1960s when he started skimming public money when building public housing. This is a failure of the government to stop Trump in the 1970s when he rented to whites only.
Why are all the scumbags getting away with it?
Because they own the country
The worst part is the Dems are going to be portrayed (rightfully? Idk) as complicit
I would say rightfully, yes.
I blame the democrats for it because Schiff and his band of attention hogs sought the spotlight and had to have their Jan 6th committee hearings cirklejerk. If they had appointed Jack Smith instantly then it would've gone to trial long before voters went to the polls. But instead they waited until November to appoint Smith and shot themselves in the foot in the process.
And did you know if you were caught and you were
Smoking crack,
McDonald's wouldn't even want to take you back
You could always just run for mayor of D.C.
