"The goal is an endless war, not a successful war” - Assange

[-] MaggiWuerze@feddit.de 22 points 1 year ago

Or maybe we are just prepared to support the Ukraine in beating these war mongering, pillaging motherfuckers back to where they belong and also recognize that it might take some time.

But of course it's all a conspiracy to feed money into our MIC

[-] SkaveRat@discuss.tchncs.de 18 points 1 year ago

yup. better give putin what he wants, so we can have no more war /s

[-] iridaniotter@hexbear.net 8 points 1 year ago

Well, it would end the war in Ukraine. You can't deny that part.

[-] Unaware7013@kbin.social 7 points 1 year ago

And as we all saw in 2014 (or in the 1930s), appeasement works and never leads to more war or strife.

[-] Flaps@hexbear.net 4 points 1 year ago

Better keep on sending thousands of Ukrainians to their deaths, then.

[-] awwwyissss@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago

Ukrainians overwhelmingly support defending their country.

[-] awwwyissss@lemm.ee 7 points 1 year ago

Assange is paid by the Kremlin

[-] YaaAsantewaa 6 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Assange is just a person who cares about freedom of the press, going on these red-scare witch-hunts is going to blow back in peoples faces sooner rather than later because we already went through this before

Also promoting countries that have worse human rights abuses than Russia is not a winning strategy, 20% of Germans now believe in far-right candidates, something that Germany hasn't seen since 1933, and that's a serious issue that needs to be addressed, not brushed under the rug

[-] CollisionResistance@lemm.ee 6 points 1 year ago

Everyone who disagrees with me is a Poopin puppet 🤡🤡

Even the propaganda outlets like nytimes, amnesty and countless organisations arguing against Assange's extradition are Pootin puppets.

Have some shame you effin troll

Nice strawman

[-] eran_morad@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

The goal is to prevent a dystopian totalitarian takeover of Europe, you fool.

[-] theodewere@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago

quote a coward for internet points

[-] lasagna@programming.dev 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Guess he has read 1984?

Not that it matters since this is such a different scenario.

[-] CollisionResistance@lemm.ee 4 points 1 year ago

Assange quoted Orwell in the context of Afghan war. Full video.

[-] ghosts@hexbear.net 16 points 1 year ago

This is what the liberals want. Four more years of war.

[-] ahornsirup@artemis.camp 10 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

No, we want Russia to unconditionally surrender right now. But since that's unrealistic, we want to provide Ukraine with the means to defend itself from a blatantly imperialist invasion by a fascist state.

[-] gnuhaut@lemmy.ml 6 points 1 year ago

You're just throwing those terms around aren't you?

You don’t understand what imperialism means. US/EU capital is looting and exploiting the former socialist block and controlling it through western capitalist media, NGOs, military bases and coups. That’s imperialism. The Russians preventing Nazis from doing ethnic cleansing along their border and demanding not to be threatened with a gun to the head is not imperialism.

And if you think Russia is fascist (I don't think it is, but reasonable people might disagree), what do you think about Ukraine? The Ukrainian state funds and arms Banderite groups and promotes Banderite ideology, which is a straight up fascist, racist, ethnonationalist, Neo-Nazi ideology. Those people think Russians are Mongol Asiatic Untermenschen, and the Ukrainian state promotes that. The Russian government does not promote this sort of ethnonationalism.

[-] ahornsirup@artemis.camp 7 points 1 year ago

Wow, you really did swallow the official Russian stance. I bet you'd also have believed that Poland attacked that German radio station in 1939. Repeat after me: Russia has invaded Ukraine because the Russian government does not consider Ukraine to be a legitimate nation. But don't take my word for it, read Putin's essay on the matter. It just takes a minimum amount of actual reflection to see that that's the real reason for the invasion.

[-] awwwyissss@lemm.ee 7 points 1 year ago

It's what the Kremlin and CCP want. They ruined their own countries now they're expanding.

[-] queermunist@lemmy.ml 9 points 1 year ago

Amazing how you just throw in China for no reason lol

[-] CollisionResistance@lemm.ee 4 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

US's next war is with China. Read former Defense Sec Robert McNamara's memo of 1965.

There are three fronts to a long-run effort to contain China:

  • the Japan-Korea front

  • the India-Pakistan front; and

  • the Southeast Asia front

[-] queermunist@lemmy.ml 8 points 1 year ago

Oh yeah I know they're already manufacturing consent for it, but it's wild how random people latch on to it so easily.

[-] CollisionResistance@lemm.ee 6 points 1 year ago

All that the Big Brother needs to do is tell the people, there's a big bad enemy far away. He wants to destroy us. But if you support the Big Brother, he will protect you. That's the entire pitch. Rinse and repeat for every war.

Watch this clip from a year ago.

Most Americans can't put Ukraine on a map, but they want unlimited money to be funneled to the most corrupt country on the planet.

And claim it is "ruined" lmao some of those people seriously look like posting from alternate dimension.

[-] zephyrvs@lemmy.ml 10 points 1 year ago

Christian "Schuldenbremse" Lindner. No money for education, public transport and energy investments but the feeding the war machine is completely within budget.

[-] agarorn@feddit.de 3 points 1 year ago

There is always money for the military.

[-] gnuhaut@lemmy.ml 9 points 1 year ago

While he's there in Ukraine, he should do a tour of those minefields. That's where this German equipment and the German-trained soldiers are going, seems only fair for him to see the the blooming landscapes he helped create.

[-] MaggiWuerze@feddit.de 19 points 1 year ago

I see the tankies are out in full force today. Maybe you should enlist for your favorite dictator instead of spewing bullshit online

[-] gnuhaut@lemmy.ml 5 points 1 year ago

He materially supports sending unwilling conscripts to their deaths. I advocate against this, but I'm the one that should be on the front line?

[-] baru@lemmy.world 14 points 1 year ago

Russia should stop the war and it would stop. But that's not what you advocated.

[-] gnuhaut@lemmy.ml 4 points 1 year ago

I'm pretty sure the war would stop if we marched our politicians into mine fields.
