I knew this was coming because I liked it a lot.

[-] Anissem@lemmy.ml 41 points 1 month ago

Thanks for ruining it for all of us

[-] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 35 points 1 month ago

I take my role as a Harbinger of Failure very seriously

[-] Beacon@fedia.io 41 points 1 month ago

Proving exactly why Netflix isn't worth subscribing to

[-] okamiueru@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

How so? KAOS was brilliant. Have you seen it? Season 1 didn't finish on a cliffhanger.

[-] Beacon@fedia.io 12 points 1 month ago

I saw it, it was good, but it's now permanently less than 10 hours of show, and it isn't a fully resolved story. That's not what i want from a streaming service.

[-] okamiueru@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

Fair enough :)

[-] FooBarrington@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

I mean, it was multiple pretty massive cliffhangers...

[-] okamiueru@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

As far as story arcs types go, Kaos S1 was far more complete than "multiple pretty massive cliffhangers" warrants IMHO.

Even though the creator envisioned 3 seasons to fully tell the story, they did an excellent job in making season 1 entertaining, and worth watching in of itself. Which cannot be said for many other shows...

[-] FooBarrington@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

I absolutely agree that S1 is great television, and the cliffhangers aren't as bad as many other shows. But there are a lot of open questions from the end of the last episode:

  • !Who, or what, is Kaos?!<

  • !Why/how does Caeneus have the ability to return people?!<

  • !Who/what was guiding Prometheus?!<

  • !How will humanity react to Riddy's revelations?!<

  • !Will Dionysus revive Dennis?!< This one never being answered might actually be a war crime according to the Geneva convention

Never commit yourself to a Netflix show until you know more seasons are coming.

[-] Pyr_Pressure@lemmy.ca 9 points 1 month ago

First seasons don't get the numbers that Netflix wants because everyone knows to wait for the 2-3 season.

It's a loop that Netflix is now in lol

[-] Chewbaccabra@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago

1899 was my last straw. At that point I realized I was only hanging on for Tim Robinson.

[-] Dasus@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

Luckily I never found a pirated version with the original audio and I don't like dubs in live-action, so I never watched it.

Probably not worth it now, eh?

[-] Chewbaccabra@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

Lol it's actually very important to watch it without dubs. The show is filled with people interacting who don't speak the same language, which makes it interesting. Dubs ruin that. Netflix in their wisdom defaulted to dubs, and fortunately I learned to correct that after about three episodes.

[-] Dasus@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

My points exactly, which is why I was so annoyed I couldn't find a pirated version with non-dub audio.

Netflix in their wisdom defaulted to dubs, and fortunately I learned to correct that after about three episodes.

Ikr? I just thought the people ripping those would've had the werewithall to also rip all of the audio tracks.

[-] shadowedcross@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 month ago

I'm still mad about Inside Job

[-] coriza@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

That is rule even waiting for more than 2 seasons... But I forgot about it the other day when my wife and I wanted to find something fast to watch and selected Kaos :(. We didn't even intended to keep watching or expectations of enjoying it as much as we did. That sucks.

[-] fedev@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

I've been doing this to avoid disappointments.

[-] breadsmasher@lemmy.world 34 points 1 month ago

Havent had netflix for a long time now. I sail the high seas.

I don’t even bother with new shows anymore - no point getting invested in something thatll be cancelled anyway. And a lot of series these days turn out to be trash, and not worth even trying.

[-] MintyFresh@lemmy.world 12 points 1 month ago

I recently started slow horses. Really good if you're looking for something. 4 seasons in

"Surrounded by losers, misfits and boozers."

I thought there was something more to it. (I'm just watching the latest episode now.)

[-] THB@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 month ago

Seconding this! Show is great, and Gary Oldman really shines

[-] kamenlady@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

Ikr? I think i ditched Netflix 2 years ago. Sailing the high seas again after a long time. It was all good when Netflix was the one streaming platform, featuring almost everything.

Don't miss out on some good new shows. But i would rather look at Amazon's and Apple's releases for good, new, series. They also tend to not cancel series as often as Netflix does.

[-] THB@lemmy.ml 4 points 1 month ago

As much as I hate Amazon as a corporation, they actually make good creative decisions with their streaming offerings. I really liked Patriot back in the day and was surprised

[-] zod000@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 month ago

Funny you say that, because Amazon seems to cancel the few shows I get invested in.

[-] breadsmasher@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

Miss out on some good new shows

For sure - Ill wait until its “finished”, or at least not being cancelled midway through

[-] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 32 points 1 month ago

Fucking idiots. This is what happens when you let beancounters make creative decisions.

[-] kandoh@reddthat.com 29 points 1 month ago

Training your users to never get invested in any new shows 👌

[-] CitizenKong@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago

Which each of these cancelations I get closer to getting rid of Netflix. Only rewatching library content like Bojack Horseman keeps me renewing rn.

[-] drolex@sopuli.xyz 19 points 1 month ago

Good thing they butchered the ending by leaving 6327 plot threads completely open.

What a waste of good acting.

[-] THB@lemmy.ml 17 points 1 month ago

I've only checked out a handful of shows on that chart analysis, including The Gentlemen, and Kaos was so much better than any of them. Much better written, acted and directed on all fronts. Sigh.

[-] southsamurai@sh.itjust.works 13 points 1 month ago

What the fuck? It was a successful show.

[-] circuscritic@lemmy.ca 13 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

I'm going to pull this out of my asshole, but I'm guessing that cast cost them quite a bit and the viewing returns couldn't justify it.

Which sucks, because it was a actually novel and interesting show.

Normally, that would have meant I wouldn't have even started watching it because I would assume eminent cancellation, but I actually figured the cast worked in its favor. Guess I was wrong.

Oh Netflix, you're still finding new ways to show me I was right to cancel my decade-long subscription.

[-] socsa@piefed.social 2 points 1 month ago

Netflix has always had trouble paying A listers. The monetization model just doesn't translate properly.

There's a real possibility that they cancelled this because Jeff Goldblum wanted too much money for season 2.

[-] Default_Defect@midwest.social 12 points 1 month ago

Finding out that show even exists by hearing about its cancellation will never stop being amusing to me.

[-] Z3k3@lemmy.world 11 points 1 month ago

I refuse to watch new netflix shows now. I'll binge watch them if yhe arc completes in a few years

[-] 1stTime4MeInMCU@mander.xyz 10 points 1 month ago

Trash website makes trash decision

[-] st3ph3n@midwest.social 9 points 1 month ago

I only just started watching this show this weekend. Two episodes in and enjoying it. God damn it, Netflix.

[-] Beacon@fedia.io 5 points 1 month ago

::: spoiler Spoiler ahead giving advice on whether to watch the rest of the show:

The season ends the story at a reasonable half conclusion, so even though they setup a storyline that would've been the second season, you still feel reasonably not blueballed.

[-] THB@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 month ago

I was telling my wife just this. A lot of things are left open but you have enough hints to reasonably infer where the story was headed. Would have been great to see it all, though.

[-] brianary@startrek.website 3 points 1 month ago

I thought it was interesting and original until the pointless cat scene and the complete lack of an ending.

[-] toynbee@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

I'm not familiar with this show in any way, but the thumbnail and headline make me want to say: Kaos, uh... Finds a way.

Based on the comments I'm reading here, hopefully that's true!

[-] nullthegrey@gamepad.club 1 points 1 month ago

@Blaze I had already cancelled my #netflix sub, but if I had not, this would have done it for me.
