Transistor at ~4€ is great, I've been meaning to dig into the dev's older games after Hades since it looks like they're all of the same quality

All of the Supergiant games are amazing. All hits, no misses.

[-] Matthias720@kbin.social 4 points 1 year ago

Yeah, and all of Darren Korb's music slaps. Literally every song is a masterpiece.

If you can pick up Bastion, it's awesome aswell.

That's the thing I had Bastion from forever ago, then recently played Hades and I was like "oh my god they're all bangers" so now I have to catch up on the in between. I even un-ignored Pyre cause even if it's tagged visual novel, I got so involved in the relationship aspect of Hades that I figure eh might as well give it a shot

I've played all of them except Pyre.

Transistor was good, albeit a little short. But the game mechanics are definitely unique and worth a play.

Bastion is just a classic action RPG, worth a play as well.

Oh, and of course the music for both is phenomenal.

By now I have all the games I WAIT A MINUTE IS THAT HEROES OF MIGHT AND MAGIC 3 COMPLETE FOR $2.49?!

[-] lotanis@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 1 year ago

I've never played Heroes of Might and Magic at all. What's it like? Should I get it and where should I start?

[-] jaw@beehaw.org 1 points 1 year ago

Unique in that it spawned its own kind of genre, but in broad strokes they're turn based strategy games.

Heroes of Might and Magic 3 is the most popular, and consensus is that after the 5th game, things went downhill significantly, so I wouldn't pay much mind to the ones after that.

Given the popularity of HoMM3, you can find tons of videos online going over its core mechanics, so if youre interested, it's easy to get a better understanding.

They're extremely fun and addicting games. A certain charm to it as well, especially with the third game.

GOG.com is great. Almost all the games I remember playing as a teenager for mere single digit amounts. My latest purchase was FEAR, but my library is full of mid 90s to early 2000s stuff.

DRM-free is the best part. I've downloaded offline installers for all my games and stored them on my NAS as a backup.

[-] judog24@cheddarcrackers.club 6 points 1 year ago

For $4, I might have to double dip on Contra Anniversary Collection. It's also on sale on Xbox for the same price.

What's your top recommendation for sale games on GOG? The list is overwhelming haha

[-] watup@lemmy.fmhy.ml 3 points 1 year ago

Skyrim DRM-free, if you haven't already bought it on five different platforms

[-] storksforlegs@beehaw.org 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I have, but whats one more :)

[-] alehel@beehaw.org 3 points 1 year ago

Horizon Zero Dawn is on offer. So is Cyberpunk 2077.

[-] ipkpjersi@lemmy.one 2 points 1 year ago

Seconding Horizon Zero Dawn, it's a great game.

Sigma Theory Global Cold War is on Giveaway, until Jun 19 2023, 1PM UTC

@Los Grabbed CC3, SMAC, X-COM: Apocalypse and Incoming. I tend to like Gog for the retro games still. Going to wait for Steam sale for more. Steam deck has definitely caused me to prefer steam a little bit more even though I do play games from other stores with Lutris/Heroic on it.

[-] xtremeownage@lemmyonline.com 2 points 1 year ago

I need to stock up.

Guess this is a good way to burn a few T of space on my NAS. Love GOG

[-] cavemeat@beehaw.org 1 points 1 year ago

Oh fuck yeah, time to burn money.

[-] djsaskdja@reddthat.com 1 points 1 year ago

Nice. Hope Steam's Summer Sale will follow shortly behind.
