Nazis are basically never banned from any lemmy instances, except our, for being nazis. I rarily even see nazi shit banned despite reporting it every time, and if they are banned, it's usually for tone policing reason.

[-] ImOnADiet@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 1 year ago

there's no way nazis don't get banned on lemmy.ml, that would be extremely out of character from dessalines and nutomic

[-] PolandIsAStateOfMind@lemmygrad.ml 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Look at modlog. Basically no one banned for being nazi, and you just need to skim worldnews to see some nazi apologia. They are sometimes banned but as i said for other reasons. Also i meant all instances, can Dessalines and Nutomic even ban people at let's say .world?

[-] ImOnADiet@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 1 year ago

modlog is a bit busted, it can be hard to tell if you don't specifically sort by actions. No they can't ban .world users, I just haven't really seen any of the apologia coming from .ml like I have .world

Libs will claim they support healthcare then refuse to administer the only known cure for fascism, smh

cure-for-fascism

[-] DamarcusArt@lemmygrad.ml 1 points 1 year ago

There are an awful lot of pre-scratched nazis floating around right now though.

[-] kig_v2@lemmygrad.ml 0 points 1 year ago

Here? Nah. I ain't been here a minute but I find that hard to believe.

[-] simply_surprise@lemmygrad.ml 1 points 1 year ago

They're talking about that "scratch a liberal and a fascist bleeds" saying.

[-] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 0 points 1 year ago

I haven't seen that phrase. How much does it appear? Is it used by nazi-types? I think I'm missing some critical info.

I'm very anti-nazi, but I haven't seen anything approaching nazi speech in the couple of months that I've been here. I've seen right-wing apologists and occasional conspiracy support, but that gets called out and voted down. Am I experiencing a diff Lemmy because I'm not subscribed to specific channels or something?

[-] simply_surprise@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I mostly just meant that as a reply to KIGV2, as they'd have context for it.

It's a very common saying in this instance, and in other communist spaces online.

The underlying idea is basically that fascism and liberalism are inherently interlinked. Liberalism creates the conditions for fascism to thrive (uncritical free speech, private property), and fascism protects the basic things Liberalism does (private property etc).

"Scratch a liberal and a fascist bleeds", "fascism is the military wing of liberalism", and "social democracy is objectively the moderate wing of fascism" are all quotes meant to communicate that relationship.

You might find this bit ofthis piece interesting/relevant:

Firstly, it is not true that fascism is only the fighting organisation of the bourgeoisie. Fascism is not only a military-technical category. Fascism is the bourgeoisie’s fighting organisation that relies on the active support of Social-Democracy. Social-Democracy is objectively the moderate wing of fascism. There is no ground for assuming that the fighting organisation of the bourgeoisie can achieve decisive successes in battles, or in governing the country, without the active support of Social-Democracy. There is just as little ground for thinking that Social-Democracy can achieve decisive successes in battles, or in governing the country, without the active support of the fighting organisation of the bourgeoisie. These organisations do not negate, but supplement each other. They are not antipodes, they are twins. Fascism is an informal political bloc of these two chief organisations; a bloc, which arose in the circumstances of the post-war crisis of imperialism, and which is intended for combating the proletarian revolution. The bourgeoisie cannot retain power without such a bloc. It would therefore be a mistake to think that “pacifism” signifies the liquidation of fascism. In the present situation, “pacifism” is the strengthening of fascism with its moderate, Social-Democratic wing pushed into the forefront.

If that's not your speed, that's cool. Lemmygrad's not for everyone, and you should be able to block the communities that are most active here!

Thanks for the helpful post, I didn't have all this context

[-] simply_surprise@lemmygrad.ml 1 points 1 year ago

Happy to help! :)

Friendly reminder that the lemmy.world admins doxxed one of their users they thought was me. They also log and monitor the IPs and the emails used to sign up on their instance as well as use a discord bot to log all posts/comments made to lemmy.world. Don't make accounts on their instance!

[-] JuneFall@hexbear.net 1 points 1 year ago

Holy fuck have you got more info / sources for that? Really would like to show the surveillance to a FOSS buddy that acts as if free speech and freedom from surveillance is important to them, but did defend the de federation.

They admit to using the rooki bot in this post.

https://github.com/hdevelopments/rooki-lemmy-bot/

The bot has the functionality to send posts/comments/user to a designated discord server as posts in a channel which exposes the data to discord's data collection which is not protected via their https://discord.com/privacy

[-] DamarcusArt@lemmygrad.ml 1 points 1 year ago

Lemmy.world? More like Lemmy.CIA!

[-] HiddenLayer5@lemmygrad.ml 1 points 1 year ago

Wait seriously? They doxxed someone? If you can do so without further throwing the victim under the bus, could you elaborate or provide a link to the incident?

[-] NephewAlphaBravo@hexbear.net 2 points 1 year ago

hang on, I've got something for this

Can anyone explain the meme for the poor non-native english speaker?

Thanks :)

[-] HiddenLayer5@lemmygrad.ml 1 points 1 year ago

Absolutely! The joke is that "freeze peach" sounds kind of like "free speech," so it's become a meme to mock the (usually far right) people who claim that freedom of speech should be upheld at all costs, including human decency, and that things like racism, sexism, LGBTQ+ phobia, hell even full-on Nazi propaganda should be unrestricted on the internet.

[-] swiftessay@lemmygrad.ml 1 points 1 year ago

Oh! I see. Thanks!

[-] ennemi@hexbear.net 0 points 1 year ago

damn I thought this was an orange in a bowl full of diced onion. gotta get my eyes checked out

[-] GarbageShoot@hexbear.net 4 points 1 year ago

The peach is both very bright and mostly obscured. The other peaches in the frame are helpful visual context.

[-] Sphere@hexbear.net 1 points 1 year ago

It's freeze-peach freeze-peach

[-] motherfucker@hexbear.net 1 points 1 year ago

parenti-hands

And those who demand instant perfection the day after the revolution, they go up and say “Are there civil liberties for the fascists? Are they gonna be allowed their newspapers and their radio programs, are they gonna be able to keep all their farms? The passion that some of our liberals feel, the day after the revolution, the passion and concern they feel for the fascists, the civil rights and civil liberties of those fascists who are dumping and destroying and murdering people before.

Libs gonna lib

Are they gonna be allowed their newspapers and their radio programs

No lenin shotgun

[-] swiftessay@lemmygrad.ml 1 points 1 year ago

Good old Mike! This guy is so fucking good to listen to. We need more comrades with that perfect rhetoric.

[-] SoyViking@hexbear.net 1 points 1 year ago

I've been searching a lot for someone contemporary who can deliver a speech the same way Parenti could and I haven't really found anyone. Maybe it has something to do with the way academia has changed to be much more tightly controlled, leaving no room for dissidents.

[-] RedClouds@lemmygrad.ml 1 points 1 year ago

Even papa Parenti was kicked out of his faculty position for his opinions. Truly progressive movements have a history of being oppressed in the imperial core.

I also hope someone can rally the crowd like he used to be able too, but in the modern era.

[-] Ram_The_Manparts@hexbear.net 1 points 1 year ago

Vijay Prashad is a great speaker

[-] Civility@hexbear.net 1 points 1 year ago
[-] trashxeos@lemmygrad.ml 1 points 1 year ago

For examples in history, Black Reconstruction by DuBois is an excellent source of "if you let the fascist be fascist right after crushing them in a civil war, you're gonna have a bad time."

[-] Shinhoshi@lemmygrad.ml 1 points 1 year ago

Lemmy.world admins: Banned?

[-] HiddenLayer5@lemmygrad.ml 0 points 1 year ago

Well they banned Hexbear preemptively, so

[-] BelieveRevolt@hexbear.net 1 points 1 year ago

”That's only because they're tankies (worse than Nazis btw), if we want to ban Nazis we need to have a D I S C U S S I O N about it.”

[-] aaaaaaadjsf@hexbear.net 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

And one of the reasons was hexbear being anti NATO. In what world is being against NATO a bad thing? I'd guess the majority of the world's populace is not fond of NATO.

Extremely ironic that the Lemmy dot world instance is hostile to the geopolitical opinions of most of the world. Typical "international community" us-foreign-policy type shit.
