Dumpling review:
Good flavour - these were pork and ginger. Texture was lacking, but I blame my own cooking. I ended up kind of... Shallow boiling them, draining the water, then putting them pack on with a little butter (I don't really use oil). Let the remaining moisture evaporate as best it could and stirred em around a bit. Finished with soy sauce and la gan mao chilli crisp. Also had broccolini. They came out quite soft and tacky? Still good though.

If you intend on feasting on more dumplings in the coming years get a couple of bamboo steamers like Catfish said.

[-] bull@aussie.zone 5 points 4 months ago

This is the way. Also, to save the annoying ripping off of the right size of baking paper grab some liners

I donโ€™t really use oil

Oil is fren not foe with the dumplo.

The pork & ginger ones I like to have in soup or on top of ramen. They are softer and tackier than other kinds. I have had trouble fry/steaming them. They do OK steamed only, but are really nice in soup.

This work week has been a GRIND. Almost there but I'll be crawling to the finish line. Then a week off next week, really looking forward to a short break. Thinking a second coffee is in order.

Fucking had it with these gall wasps in the lemon tree. I let it go too far so have been taking the kukri to it (surprisingly very effective). I'd like to call it shaping the tree but in reality it's wasp genocide.

Spraying the holes and galls with WD40 works to kill the little bastards if you don't want to chop off a particular branch/trunk.

The kid came home yesterday from a function with a tray of food and the man said "I can take some for lunch tomorrow" and I said "No you can't. That's our dinner". I feel really bad now for being a cunt.

Cultures not back yet. One vet was willing to give Melbcat the stronger pain meds but another has decided against it, so the compromise was giving an extra dose of her existing medication.

Theyโ€™re saying results will probably be in on Tuesday so baby girl will be going the weekend without antibiotics and only pain relief. Sheโ€™s got fussy and peed on stuff tonight so I gave her the last dose of the strong stuff.

She will no longer eat wet food if it has extra water so maybe I can try some tuna juice or weak allium free broth.

Ok, after an hour's lie down I've recovered a bit and making myself go in to watch the film. I likely won't have the opportunity to watch it anywhere else, and it's good to expand one's horizons and get out of one's head. Especially prior to a holed-up weekend of reading and rewriting (as now my proposal is somewhat different)... Wearing a mask to at least slightly reduce the chance of getting some new shitty infection. Can't afford that this weekend!

Gonna fuck around and set up my gaming PC again to try Deadlock. Gave away my monitor, chair and desk, so gonna be an interesting setup for the time being.

Also, BBQ Samboy chips detected at Aldi in the CBD.

Aldi's bags of popcorn are pretty good. I need to tell the world so they stay in circulation forever.

Movie Review. Kick-Ass.

Thoughts on an R rating for a movie about violence and force perpetrated and suffered by children.

In real life children can suffer all the same horrors as adults and too often do. I really do think we should put our effort in protecting children from real life violence rather than fictional violence.

And maybe fictional violence can help children understand the world around them better.

I don't like violence, doesn't mean it's good to pretend it doesn't exist.
