a kid with a infatuation? O no the horror. It's fucking fine. If people want to laugh about it later in good spirits, awesome. If it's not in good spirits, then congratulations you have identified a asshole. Someone not worth giving two shits about.

Also deadwood. That show is fucking awesome and I am not particularly fanatic about western or cowboy culture.

Deadwood was a show about Rome, rethemed to the old west because HBO already had ROME going on

[-] peteypete420@sh.itjust.works 5 points 6 months ago

Deadwood was about cops in a lawless place, not Rome. It was originally pitched as taking place in Rome, and the show ROME forced them to change the setting.

The saloons were originally collegium, idk what you are trying to correct here.

Deadwood had a retheme to the west but it wasn’t really a western or a cowboy show.

All you have to do it watch it. It does not have anything g to do with Rome. Again, the creator pitched it as taking place in Rome during the reign of Nero. Because the show is about cops in a place with no laws, not Rome.

My dude I’m not going to argue with you about settled fact. In fact I’m not disagreeing with you except in saying that deadwood isn’t a show about cowboys.

If you mean that in the sense it's about frontiersman not cowboys or something then ok, that's all the same to me. But you can read Milchs interview. He very clearly says it's about cops, and the original setting he had in mind was Rome. It's not about Rome.

This looks AI generated, why didn't he just get the clothes and take a damn picture? That way it wouldn't look like shit

The issue is that it would, because it's Elon.

[-] Gradually_Adjusting@lemmy.world 83 points 6 months ago

The real tragedy is that he didn't stick to it. People who stop being willing to stand out make the world a more boring place.

[-] snooggums@midwest.social 39 points 6 months ago

Hell yeah, people said "Howdy partner" to him. Fucking lean into that shit!

[-] blargerer@kbin.melroy.org 77 points 6 months ago

Real cringe is adult quasi strangers teasing someone for what they did as a teenager.

[-] AnUnusualRelic@lemmy.world 53 points 6 months ago

This is more fun if anon is in Italy or something.

[-] bionicjoey@lemmy.ca 33 points 6 months ago

Given how many Westerns were from Italy (ie. Spaghetti Westerns), it would make some sense.

[-] Alexstarfire@lemmy.world 1 points 6 months ago

That is why they said that.

[-] Kolanaki@yiffit.net 41 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago)

IDK why but this just made me think of Dodgeball.

"Who's Steve the Pirate?"

"Literally the only player on the team that dresses up like a pirate?"

"We have a player that dresses up like a pirate?!"

[-] Taleya@aussie.zone 31 points 6 months ago

Lean into it. And if all someone sees is something that happened years ago, fuck'em. They don't know you.

[-] cyborganism@lemmy.ca 29 points 6 months ago

Best thing to do is to own it, accept it and laugh with them at how cringe it was.

[-] dohpaz42@lemmy.world 22 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago)

Eh, kids will be kids. I remember when I was in the 6th grade there was a kid named Steven who only ever wore camo to school. Of course we all made fun of him. 😔 kids (and their adult versions) can be mean. I hope Steven turned out fine.

[-] Rolando@lemmy.world 8 points 6 months ago

Wat. In my 6th grade if someone had worn camo all the time they would've been king of the class.

[-] Godric@lemmy.world 12 points 6 months ago

In my 6th grade, wearing camo was so common it was utterly unremarkable. Only time someone got joked with was when a kid named Hunter wore a camo jacket with camo pants outside of deer season.

[-] theangryseal@lemmy.world 3 points 6 months ago

Aww man, you’re making me wish my name was hunter. It could have been my whole thing.

[-] Alienmonkey@lemm.ee 22 points 6 months ago

Fake.

No one remembers Anon years later.

[-] Two2Tango@lemmy.ca 15 points 6 months ago

When I was in highschooli n the late 2000s, country bars were all the rage so you would've fit right in

[-] JokeDeity@lemm.ee 9 points 6 months ago

Just didn't own it. Anyone with confidence could have made it work just fine.

[-] NigelFrobisher@aussie.zone 8 points 6 months ago

I got a cowboy hat once until my partner pointed out that men who wear cowboy hats always end up on the TV news with neighbours describing them as a “quiet man who kept himself to himself”, despite which “nobody saw this coming”.
