Straight women and gay men can also love them because they're just cool.

TIL what autosexuality is.

[-] crazyCat@sh.itjust.works 30 points 2 years ago

Seems every month there’s a new sexual category for me to learn. For anyone else like me who didn’t know:

Autosexuality means people are more attracted to themselves than to others and may prefer masturbation to sex with a partner. It doesn’t mean that someone who is autosexual will never have sexual relationships with other people. It simply means people who are autosexual feel more sexually aroused by themselves rather than by others.

So, that one robot from Futurama

I feel like there is an overlap between people that write autobiographies and people that get off to themselves. For legal reasons thats a joke /s

[-] andrew_bidlaw@sh.itjust.works 6 points 2 years ago

For legal reasons, I won't suppose they write them sitting naked before a mirror, with a bottle and an assortment of toys.

[-] kwomp2@sh.itjust.works 44 points 2 years ago

So close to not denormalizing gay men, yet...

[-] gerryflap@feddit.nl 40 points 2 years ago

I was beginning to think that I could go this day without any "joke" or remark that would exclude me from the group "men" because I'm not into women, but here it is. I was almost getting worried that it took so long today :/

[-] zea_64 25 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Especially in contrast to "lesbian" rather than "women". Male expectations suck in this society, sorry for you having to deal with that 🫂

[-] Taleya@aussie.zone 9 points 2 years ago

I know plenty of gay/ax men who appreciate boobs from an aesthetic or comfort perspective. Hell, my cat loves my boobs and i'm damned sure she's not into me. I've had pet rats happily nestle down in my cleavage. For all the wild sexualisation of them there's a lot of non-sexual boob appreciation

I'm a man who doesn't love boobs. AMA

[-] VaultBoyNewVegas@lemmy.world 10 points 2 years ago

I'm a butthole guy myself.

[-] zea_64 9 points 2 years ago

How do you feel about expectations of men in our society?

[-] Johandea@feddit.nu 6 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

I'm having difficulties condensing all expectations modern men are facing into a single thought or opinion. There are many different kinds of assumptions about the ideal man, some of which are constructive, destructive or both, depending on the situation and individual. I can think of both positive and negative effects and cannot give a single answer. I'm not well versed in this field, and some would say I'm the absolute worst person to answer questions about gender norms and social group behaviour...

[-] jballs@sh.itjust.works 8 points 2 years ago

Does not loving boobs mean you're indifferent to boobs? Or like anti-boobs?

[-] Johandea@feddit.nu 8 points 2 years ago
[-] jballs@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 years ago

That makes sense. I can't imagine anyone being anti-boobs.

[-] Opisek@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago

This term makes me imagine people marching in a protest against breasts.

Why not both? But arms are my weak point... 💪

Well that explains it! No more questions.

[-] Johandea@feddit.nu 8 points 2 years ago

Not really. I have gay friends who love boobs... Just not in a sexual way

[-] Mongostein@lemmy.ca 7 points 2 years ago

Like in the same way everyone likes those little stress balls?

[-] Johandea@feddit.nu 3 points 2 years ago
[-] Mongostein@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 years ago

Ah yes those are quite nice too. I also like the ones that go between your knees so your balls don’t sweat like a geyser.

Sad to see us bisexual women got cropped out 😔

[-] nickwitha_k@lemmy.sdf.org 15 points 2 years ago

Yeah. I was just thinking that too. Then looked again and realized that gay men also got erased (unerased?) as well. Seems a weird mixing of scopes to specify homosexual women but just generalize "men" as though all men like boobs as much as us (mostly)heteros do.

[-] DragonTypeWyvern@literature.cafe 10 points 2 years ago

Even straight women love boobs, there is SCIENCE that proves it

[-] clark@midwest.social 7 points 2 years ago

can you link me that science

Mythbusters put it to the test:

https://mythresults.com/laws-of-attraction

Kari volunteered to work in a coffee shop, disguising her appearance with a wig and makeup and using three different bust sizes: “small” (taped down to achieve a reduction of two cup sizes), “medium” (no alteration), and “large” (DDD size). Grant and Tory watched her through hidden cameras and gave her a tip jar rigged to separate tips given by men from those given by women.

They focused on the tips Kari collected from the first 80 male customers on each shift. During the “small” and “medium” shifts, she collected $72 in tips, while the “large” shift yielded $98, with both men and women tipping almost 40% more. The team classified the myth as confirmed.

[-] clark@midwest.social 6 points 2 years ago

not doubting this experiment but isn’t basing the validity of the myth on one instance a bit misleading

[-] FakeGreekGirl 6 points 2 years ago

Yeah, Mythbusters is fun and interesting, but don't mistake it for a scientific study. IIRC, Adam Savage himself has said they couldn't really apply the level of scientific rigor it would take to actually prove things due to the format of the show.

Still, it is food for thought.

who do you think took the picture

[-] theneverfox@pawb.social 26 points 2 years ago

A couple of my friends, a girl and gay guy, once brought me into a hobby of theirs. Several days a week, they sat at the college food court and went boob watching.

That day I learned something truly profound about the human condition. Everyone appreciates boobs - we might wrap them up in sexuality or envy or stranger complexes, but beneath it all there's a universal aesthetic appreciation

[-] kittenzrulz123 12 points 2 years ago

I'm pretty sure the vast majority of everyone loves boobs, not just babies and us that are attracted to females specifically.

[-] RecluseRamble@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 2 years ago

I've often even heard gay guys admit that boobs are great. I believe boob appreciation is ingrained into us as deeply as the comfort of fire.

[-] TotallyNotSpez@lemm.ee 6 points 2 years ago

I demand my crown now.
