The speed at which this app is being updated - and with quality updates - is insane. Keep up the good work everybody!

[-] dukethorion@lemmy.world 6 points 2 years ago

Looks much cleaner, love the magnifying glass instead of the three lines.

Noticed that the "Saved" tab also says "Search" though...

[-] CodingAndCoffee@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago

"search"

... "also search" 🤣

[-] xavier666@lemm.ee 1 points 2 years ago

"Yo dawg, I heard you like to search"

[-] blackbrook@lemmy.ml 4 points 2 years ago

Is there any "About Jerboa" in the app to see what version you are running?

[-] PropaGandalf@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago

Lets keep it going! Until june 30 we will be ready for mass adoption haha

[-] SeatBeeSate@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago

Where can we request kbin support?

[-] dessalines@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 years ago

Kbin is completely different software. You'll have to ask its creators to make an app for it.

[-] Natejka7273@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

Correct me if I'm wrong, but once kbin is federating properly shouldn't it be possible to view and interact with the content from Kbin? Or is there a technical limitation for that on the app?

[-] fcuks@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

Yes you'll be able to subscribe to their magazines which would be seen as communities on lemmy and people on mastodon.

The api which apps like jerboa etc. speak to won't be compatible out the box however.

Hot damn!! That one mighty fine update since the previous one.

Which was like 3 days ago 😂

[-] dukethorion@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

I didn't see it mentioned in the changelog, but they also added more instance links to the Android Open Links By Default section.

Settings - Apps - Jerboa - Open by Default, click Add Link button, checkmark the new entries.

Magnifying glass instead of three lines was very much needed, thank you!

Do I need to deinstall from the Play Store in order to run the newest version? The app won't update when I try to install the APK from github.

How long would it generally take for the app to get updated in the Play Store? Sorry if this is a dumb question, I'm not very experienced with APK's.

[-] PropaGandalf@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

I think it's about one day for the app to arrive in the Play Store.

[-] Ebonator@beehaw.org 0 points 2 years ago

It's already updated in the playstore!

[-] sanguinepar@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

Good news - I'm not seeing it yet (UK) but hopefully it won't be long.

[-] kadu@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

Loooove this update. The bottom navigation bar is much improved, and the new icon is superb, now I can proudly let Jerboa live in my homescreen.

Inbox Replies working!

[-] agressivelyPassive@feddit.de 1 points 2 years ago

Maybe I'm (again) overlooking something, but where is the "button row" below messages? I can't interact at all with messages, just read them and tap the "mark all as read" button.

[-] Anosyn@feddit.de 1 points 2 years ago

Hey!

I want to thank every contributor and developer for working on this app and to bring so many updates in such a short amount of time. :)

Got a quick question though: if I have Jerboa installed via the playstore, is it possible to update it with the apk? Or would I need to deinstall the app and install it fresh?

[-] Anosyn@feddit.de 2 points 2 years ago

In case anyone reads this and asks the same question:

I just deleted the app on my phone and installed via the apk. Works fine now! I had some trouble signing back onto my account, but I guess that was because of high traffic on my instance

[-] ShatteredScales@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

Not seeing it in either Play Store or F-Droid yet

This app is starting to look pretty awesome! There's a feature I really want from Infinity for Reddit which is swiping between posts. Can that be implemented?

[-] boredtortoise@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Post item thumbnail opens comments instead of pic/link

Edit: not consistent. Sometimes works normally

[-] Dream_state@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

The bottom bar is much improved but it says search twice, the right one should be saved

[-] fcuks@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

"New users complain about discoverability, so we doubled the search functionality!"

~ Jerboa devs probably

[-] diluc@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 years ago

I think there's an empty bar above the keyboard when searching something.

[-] evev13@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

It would be nice to be able to see images fullsceen. Particularly, those posted the the replies.

[-] MisterFrog@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

Thanks so much for your efforts! This app is really great, and I'm really excited for the future.

Thank you so much for your work. This app is awesome for the early stages and this update improved functionality massively. I have zero context of how to make suggestions for the app. I mean it in a constructive way. So here it goes.

  1. In your inbox have a way to see the context of that response. Currently, If you click on it, it opens the entire thread and you have to sort through it to find your comment. In large threads that's a big issue.

  2. Not sure how possible it is to make the functionality to be able to create groups of communities. For example, if there is an aww@lemmy.ml and awwww@lemmy.world and awwwww@sh.itjustworks etc a user can add all them as they find them to a multicatagory they created named awww... consolidating them from a user's standpoint but still keeping things decentralized.

  3. Make an option for a user to set a default sort/home page. Like clicking home can be set to default to "all" or "subscribed" sorted by "Hot" or "Active".

[-] xavier666@lemm.ee 0 points 2 years ago

Can the UI elements be made "tighter"? Example, hide the upvote/downvote and all other icons till the user long presses on a comment. Most lf the times people want to view the thread. That way, we don't have to scroll as much.

Isn't this already a setting in look and feel?

Jerboa is a native-android client for Lemmy, built using the native android framework, Jetpack Compose.

Warning: You can submit issues, but between Lemmy and lemmy-ui, I probably won't have too much time to work on them. Learn jetpack compose like I did if you want to help make this app better.
