This joke only works if you’ve never understood a single lyric of their songs.

"I liked RATM when they weren't so political."

[-] Spazsquatch@lemmy.studio 5 points 2 years ago

Given they are accused of getting into politics and should stick to music by “fans”, the joke has legs.

Its also funny if you hate printers. We always keep the main printer(s) under a maintenance contract.

They explained in great detail the nature of the machine, how it works, who created it, and who profited from it, in multiple hit songs they produced..

P.C. load letter? What the fuck does that mean?

[-] ndguardian@lemmy.studio 2 points 2 years ago

It’s the thing that lets the PC load. Obviously.

Lol even better

[-] TimeSquirrel@kbin.social 2 points 2 years ago

There's a reason for that. It's so your printer can still print the secret tracking dots on every printout.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Machine_Identification_Code

Edit: don't use a common ordinary printer when doing naughty things.

Uhh does USPS have a unsend option?

[-] lemmyshmemmy@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

Fascinating. It's only for laser printers, but the real interesting bit is that they did it for 20 years before it was public knowledge.

Makes you wonder what other stuff they have hidden in devices we use every single day. Unless people start de-lidding the chips in their stuff and analyzing the circuits and dumping and analyzing firmwares, we are in the dark about the vast majority of our stuff that uses proprietary designs. One more reason to use open source hardware and software.

I think it was probably the machine that crushes us all, the bureaucratic, capitalist nightmare of uncaring government coupled with the military industrial complex.

[-] asphaltkooky@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

HP ya sack of shit!

"Fuck you I won't do what you tell me" was just a quote from the printer
