Tbh, I don’t see how gender identity can be benign in a world where we still see so much discrimination and hatred against such ideas, but I am glad it was in this persons household. Though even then, I am not sure if it’s truly ever “benign”, it’s part of one’s self actualization and therefore meaningful and impactful for the person experiencing it

Random thought, parent titles are gendered so what do enby parents go by?

[-] paris 17 points 3 months ago

It varies by person. Some use the word parent, some use mom or dad or both.

Once they're teens, all parents become "bruh..."

[-] get_the_reference_@midwest.social 2 points 3 months ago

That's what this cis dad is called. Or at least this is how all sentences start in this house.

[-] killingspark@feddit.org 3 points 3 months ago

And the other parent is "Pal"

[-] rarWars 9 points 3 months ago

"Parent" works in formal settings, but it would be weird to have your kid call you that. Maybe just your name?

[-] bob_lemon@feddit.org 6 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

Why go with "parent" when the combination of "Mom" and "dad" gives you "mod", "mad", "dam" and "dom"?

[-] rarWars 26 points 3 months ago

I don't think a kid calling their parent their "dom" would go over well 💀💀💀

[-] Fitzsimmons 3 points 3 months ago

some kids call their father "daddy" smh

[-] nifty@lemmy.world 4 points 3 months ago

I call my dad daddy sometimes but that’s because I am not brain rotted (all of the time)

[-] trolololol@lemmy.world 4 points 3 months ago

I'm binary and I could go by mad several times per day, depending on how frustrated I get with them lol
