Did my Coles shop online. At checkout-โ€œenter cake for a free mud cakeโ€

Type in cake.

Sorry offer not available.

Fuck you even more than usual, Coles.

?

I provided them with my feedback directly, if thatโ€™s what youโ€™re trying to get at.

It's a line from the videogame Portal, was pretty much all over the internet... what seems like quite a long time ago now... oh god it came out in 2007, that was a fundamentally different world.

That's beyond evil.

Being disabled and having to shop with them for delivery means I can't boycott, so I was wondering whether I should at least try to screw them out of a free chocolate cake. But then by accepting that sop they might think there was some kind of goodwill between us... I didn't take the offer.

Now you say it's not even available.

Edit: Wait, if you want some cake then fuckem, take it. Check whether the offer period is over, and if it isn't take note that their discount codes are case sensitive. I remember the word 'cake' was all caps

If not then they've given out as many as they have or are willing to which is a jerk move

They better be honouring the Flybuys

Now I'm wondering if it's possible to grocery shop online or buy by phone and get delivery without colesworth.

[-] Mittens_meow@aussie.zone 5 points 4 months ago

I wish Aldi did delivery. IGA is $$$$. I have a disability/chronic illness, hence delivery from colesworth. Plus trying to avoid get sick from all the illnesss going around.

It sucks how a lot of the people that have lower incomes and are more vulnerable have fewer means to avoid the price gouging

[-] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 3 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

I think during the lockdowns the local IGA may have done it by phone, and they may have implemented online shop by now.

But to be honest IGA items and prices are bougie, I need one stop cheap homebrand basics and I specifically go for Coles because I can routinely get $2-4 delivery slots.

Edit: Cat food is also a big decider for where I shop because of Melbcat's food intolerances. I've found that by luck the duopolies both have a flavour of homebrand cat food she can eat, and if those are out of stock there's still pricier name brands there that are ok. From experience IGA have less of a selection and generally just stock a few popular brands which contain her (very common) allergens.

Was this a two for one deal? Like, if you bought one cake you got two?

[-] mysticgreg@aussie.zone 4 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

Nah it's just a 'free cake with your order' deal if you spend over a certain amount, we got this too.

We got our cake though.
