Fuck you. I'll vote for non genocide.

[-] Leate_Wonceslace@lemmy.dbzer0.com 53 points 11 months ago

That's Biden. The best anti-genocide voting strategy is Biden.

[-] DAMunzy@lemmy.dbzer0.com 13 points 11 months ago

How fucking stupid can you be? He is shipping weapons on over to Israel to continue the genocide in Gaza. Oh, they're delaying the current shipment... So maybe he's going to turn a new leaf? I'll believe that when he comes out, says that he is no longer enabling genocide, and then sticks to it.

[-] Leate_Wonceslace@lemmy.dbzer0.com 18 points 11 months ago

Look, if you can't do math, that doesn't mean I'm stupid.

[-] DAMunzy@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

And he's already reversed course on that. I called it now he's shipping a billion dollars in other weapons to Israel. So maybe you are, just stupid?

[-] kaffiene@lemmy.world 16 points 11 months ago

What's the counterfactual here that results in less Genocide?

[-] DAMunzy@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 11 months ago

Please tell me how voting for neither of the two major parties means more genocide. Both parties are obviously progenocide.

[-] horsey@lemm.ee 7 points 11 months ago

There is no realistic path for a third party candidate to be elected. Period.

[-] PhlubbaDubba@lemm.ee 3 points 11 months ago

If you're still asking this question after 2016, you've had the very simple math explained to you already, you just refuse to accept fault for being addicted to your superiority complex.

[-] DAMunzy@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 11 months ago

You have a very weird way of assigning fault. Just because I vote for someone that you don't think is the correct candidate doesn't make me at fault for potentially Trump winning. How about you blame the DNC instead of third party voters? How about you blame yourself for not changing the DNC enough? See how stupid that sounds?

[-] franklin@lemmy.world 12 points 11 months ago

Which option on the ballot is that?

[-] DAMunzy@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 11 months ago

Use your own brain to figure that out. I'm not here to tell you who to vote for.

[-] franklin@lemmy.world 6 points 11 months ago
[-] DAMunzy@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 11 months ago

Reading comprehension: I said I'm not voting for genocide Joe. That does not equal not voting.

[-] franklin@lemmy.world 6 points 11 months ago

My apologies you're right I extrapolated your intent when I shouldn't have.

[-] DAMunzy@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 11 months ago
[-] franklin@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago

I'm not sure what this is supposed to imply

[-] horsey@lemm.ee 5 points 11 months ago

Great, you’re going to love Genocide Donald and pals!

[-] papertowels@lemmy.one 9 points 11 months ago

Do you agree that a trump presidency is likely to be more genocide?

[-] DAMunzy@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 11 months ago

So you're saying my choices genocide or genocide-lite?

Trump would be a shitshow again. Doesn't mean I need to vote for genocide Joe

[-] papertowels@lemmy.one 6 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

Abstaining does not wash your hands if your choice made it more likely to result in more genocide.

And that's just talking about a single issue, like you said trump will fuck up a lot more things for many more Americans.

[-] DAMunzy@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 11 months ago

Reading comprehension: I'm not abstaining. Thanks for trying. Come again.

[-] scops@reddthat.com 4 points 11 months ago

Third party then? I voted third party in 2016. Figured as little as I liked Hilary, she had it in the bag, so might as well do a little protesting, eh? Fuck, was I an idiot.

Look at the polls man. The time to protest was in the primaries. November fucking counts. Don't claim you will be sitting there in good conscience as Trump throws out all the court cases against him, maybe stacks the Supreme Court for another decade or two of Conservative control, and pours more fuel on the stupid fucking culture wars that the GOP keeps burning to keep us distracted while the 1% are squeezing us for more and more.

You will have had the chance to make a difference, however small, and you will have fucking wasted it. For your "conscience".

[-] DAMunzy@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 11 months ago

Peer pressure doesn't work for me.

[-] papertowels@lemmy.one 4 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

Ah, that was an assumption made because most folks abstain :)

As you suggested, I'll try again.

If your vote results in more genocide being likely, you have not washed your hands of it.

And that's just talking about a single issue. Like you said, a trump presidency will fuck things up for many more Americans, so if your vote results in that being more likely, that's a choice you made.

[-] DAMunzy@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 11 months ago

Voting pro genocide is better than voting no genocide. Gotcha!

[-] papertowels@lemmy.one 3 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

What it comes down to is do you care about reducing the harm in the real world, or if you care more about having a clean conscience. Your protest third party vote undoubtedly makes more genocide more likely in the real world, but you get to feel good about not compromising your beliefs, which has its own merit.

If you value a clean conscience over reducing harm in the real world, you do you, I just want to make sure you're aware of the decision you're making.

[-] DAMunzy@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 11 months ago

Just because you've convinced yourself that it works this way doesn't mean it's so.

You're voting for a progenocide candidate. Just remember that when you think "harm reduction".

[-] papertowels@lemmy.one 2 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

Do you have any actual counterpoints, or is "nuh uh" the big one?

What are the odds, in your opinion, of a third party vote helping palestinians in the real world?

[-] Leate_Wonceslace@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

The person you're arguing with is either wantonly dishonest, insane, or both. They're entirely unreasonable and arguing with them will get you nowhere. On top of that, the audience has moved on. Literally nothing can be gained by continuing the conversation except for frustrating yourself.
