I liked the original game these games were based off of (Donkey Kong ‘94 on gameboy), but what I remember of the Mario vs DK games on GBA was that it focused too much on the mario toys and wasn’t really as fun as DK ‘94.
Donkey Kong '94 was like a sequel to the original DK games.
Mario vs. Donkey Kong tried to be a new series that was inspired by the original Donkey Kong.
Only the first mario vs DK was on GBA and it didn't focus too much on the mini marios. You're thinking of the DS ones. The games are fun but they're much closer to puzzle platformers than the original DK.
