So the boycott does not work, woke people in shambles 😆

[-] loobkoob@kbin.social 12 points 10 months ago

I'm sure a lot of the people who said they were going to boycott it did boycott it. But a boycott was never going to work for this game. The IP alone meant it was going to sell 10M+ copies, even if it was absolutely terrible.

Fact: it is not terrible.

Boycotts never work with games, regardless of the reason. Remember the Modern Warfare Boycott when women were introduced to the franchise as playable?

[-] ZOSTED@sh.itjust.works 5 points 10 months ago

I mean it worked for me - I didn't buy it or play it, despite it looking pretty cool.

Just because you didn't buy it doesn't mean the boycott succeeded. It still sold 22 million+ copies

[-] ZOSTED@sh.itjust.works 5 points 10 months ago

Yeah, 22M+ minus 1, me. I didn't plan the boycott, I just don't agree with giving my money to JK. So I didn't.

[-] Amaltheamannen@lemmy.ml 3 points 10 months ago

Same, know a dozen that would've bought it.

Boycotts do work in any aspect of life, for a proper reason.

Woke boycott, is not.

Are you a transphobe? Or why are you happy about this?

Laughing at woke. You woke?

.ml, so woke.

[-] Ephera@lemmy.ml 1 points 10 months ago

I don't know what "woke" means here. I was under the impression that it's synonymous to "the others" in the artificially instigated drama between the US political parties.

I'm not from the US, so I guess, I would be "the others" in some sense, but I have no idea, if I specifically count towards the implied-evil others here.
