Watching a new movie everyday has been so good, it's improving my mental stamina so much. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Back story, when I had cptsd I could barely keep up with anything more than a music video. Any mental energy I had , and it wasn't much, I used to read related medical literature and do psych therapy.

Covid did not help. That was a pretty frightening and tiring experience, it lasted years and was relentless.

I'm lucky that my cptsd isn't bad, but I still get flashbacks and stuff. And whenever I see someone who looks like my abuser I seize up (it's not great when there's a famous nerdy director who he looks like and mirrored his whole persona off of...) But it's good that you can now consume media in a safe environment.

What movie did you watch today?

[-] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 4 points 1 year ago

Roma, a Mexican movie shot in 1950s-60s Realism style . I'm not sure what is was about but I saw that kindness transcended race and class but not sex. That we are stronger for helping each other. That to make a better world we need unity and courage.

It was. :) What do you think about the story and themes?

It's been a long time since I've seen it - and I only saw it the once - but I can still picture some of the scenes so clearly in my head it's like I'm watching it right now.
