I didn't ask specifically about smooth or chunky. I just said "nut butters" and she said that wasn't a good idea. Maybe I should have pushed back a bit. 🤷

I guess technically "smooth" nut butters still have chunks, just much much smaller chunks, but yeah. It does make sense that a smooth nut butter would probably be much safer.

Actually, I had a root canal not terribly long before I had the periodontal surgery. The tech there said not to eat anything sticky (listing "bubble gum" as an example). I asked about "nut butters" and she said "I don't know what that is". Lol. I had to specify "like peanut butter". And she said "oh, right. Not a good idea."

So, honestly, when I asked the periodontist about nut butters, it seemed like a long shot in my mind even before I asked, just because the endodontist had said "no" on the nut butter thing. Might have made me less apt to push back and ask something like "even if it's smooth?"
