TenForward: Where Every Vulcan Knows Your Name
/c/TenForward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!
Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.
~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally "othering" of a group will result in removal/ban.
~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.
~ 3. Use spoiler tags.
Use spoiler tags in comments, and NSFW checkbox for posts.
This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.
~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.
~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.
~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.
~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon'
~ 8. No Political Upheaval. Political commentary is allowed, but please keep discussions civil. Read here for our community's expectations.
Fun will now commence.

I just think everyone should be prepared when this movie is an absolute piece of shit. I remember the hype for the first one, and it totally tanked. It's really only a classic because you watched it when you were young. "We ain't found shit" and the dick jokes were the funniest part of the original.
Don't just downvote me, go watch it again*. It's barely a Mad Magazine parody of Star Wars. And if you love it and think it's hilarious then I bet you spend hours quoting Monty Python at parties while the rest of the party rolls their eyes.
*And then go watch Blazing Saddles because that is some hilarious Mel Brookes
You know, if you hadn't ended your comment with that smug, masturbatory dreck, you might have said something worth talking about.
Ya, I know, I couldn't help it. Gotta be true to myself, ya dig?
Please refrain from gatekeeping what others may enjoy.
I find it hard to believe you watched the movie again before you downvoted me...
"nobody may disagree with me until they spend 2 hours doing the thing that I demanded they do first" is some proper Main Character syndrome posting
"Put it in the clay, Papa Bear, put it in the clay."
"I'm going to fight! I'm going to get revenge! I'm... going to make a cute little ashtray for my incense. It's going to look like a puppy."
Wasn't me.
Don't have to downvote to disagree with something.
You can do what you want, I don't mind, but seriously, Space Balls is Mel Brooks at his laziest and it does not stand as a work of cinema.
"Barf" is a half dog played by John Candy. I rest my case, your honor.
you seriously just doubling down on the "no actually my personal taste is objectively correct"
whatch out guys, the art police has arrived to tell you off for liking the wrong things. "Appreciate the things I enjoy, you dolt, you plebian. Eww no not THAT."
I detest mad magazine and love spaceballs. And yes I've watched it again a few times while being an adult.
It's almost as if different people have different opinions and you shouldn't push your own opinions onto others but what do I know.
So. I never watched SB because of similar sentiment. Until very recently.
At first I was: yep, that's why I never watched it.
But the film actually gets better the longer it goes. Crazier, more unhinged, free flowing production. In the end I liked it because it's much more than MAD-style camp. Artistically honest. Almost Dada.
Phew, now I sound like the world's No. 1 SB fanboi. I'm not. I just felt triggered by "dick jokes" because that really doesn't do it justice.
My kid watches it continuously, and they and I find it hilarious.
And yes, people do roll their eyes at my Monty Python quotes.
When you say that something is shit, it might help your argument just a tiny bit if you give any small specific example of why it's shit. All you've done is say that it's shit and then list parts that you liked, and then said the rest is crap. Well, if all the rest is crap, you can certainly find plenty of examples, so if you could just specifically list the top 10 or 20 examples of crappy scenes or jokes that failed, maybe we'd have something to talk about.
Also, strange to insult quoting Monty Python while recommending Blazing Saddles. Blazing Saddles and Holy Grail, which I think is the most quoted Monty Python movie, have very similar approaches in their endings.
So, you didn't like a mad magazine parody of star wars? Where you at in the descent bro, I want to watch you hit the surface.
Finally found GalaxyQuest at the thrift store; hoping for at least Cracked-level subtext.
But that's a real movie! It's not just a Mad Libs of Star Trek! It has a plot and character development and all that!
Oh what, I forgot, Space Balls has a character named Barf!!!! Lol! And he's a DOG!
Galaxy Quest? Go home
No need to poke the bear.
Sorry sir, yee that posted of these legends, first
