How does one hate a game and play it anyway?
You
It happens all the time. Usually when a friend recommends a game to me, i hate it.
Balance patches and additions change the game.
Sometimes you are high on hopium and copium, you're hoping that it gets better later on, or you just overlook some problems.
Sometimes you're already too used to the game, so it doesn't fully entertain, but it isn't "feeling" like a waste of time yet. This happens a lot with "endless" games like most MMOs and "game as a service"
I wouldn't go as far as "hate" but I've put a lot of time into games I ultimately decided I didn't like. Once I've decided that, I stop, but I'm an optimist and hope the game will improve.
Recently I've been playing Batman: Arkham Origins whilst waiting for my daughter to fall asleep. I was far too tired to pick another game so I played what was in front of me. Once I reached the end I uninstalled rather than do more open world stuff. Blech.
