Not gonna lie, that is me in literally every meeting I’ve ever attended. I don’t know what it is, but 5 minutes after a meeting / conference call starts, I am struggling to keep my eyes open.

I guess the difference is that I am not in charge of the nuclear weapons of the world police, so I feel less bad about my instant disengagement.

Not me. I try to be the one keeping the minutes.

You want to know why?

The person keeping the minutes controls what actually happens. Someone suggest something you don't like? Whoopsie poopsie, it missed the minutes. You have an idea everyone hated? Why did it get unanimous approval then? No one ever checks the minutes. It is the most powerful position in the company without hire fire authority.

The minutes. The record of what gets said in the meeting

I can’t sleep with any light. Sun's up? Tacos is up.

But put me in a lecture hall and have some white dude droning on? I will have a tough time keeping my eyes open immediately.

Every once in a while something he does reminds me of something I do. Luckily I always remember in time that I do not claim the right to be queen of the world so it's okay.

100 mg caffeine 15 minutes before a company meeting keeps me awake with effort for the next hour. If the speaker is boring, raise that to 200 mg.
